Glad to see these at the(relatively) same price as the 7200.11 so I don't have to chance anymore of them in my server, two is enough.

I promised myself I'd wait for the 2TB Green drives to hit $200 before I bought another HD.

But yeah, in for one. Thanks OP (damn you)!

I've been having trouble running them in a RAID box, but I've also had trouble with the box's controller recognizing their capacity correctly in JBOD, so I think I can make an argument to the mfr that the box is actually defective. Here is an official response I got from WD regarding using these exact drives in RAIDs:

Thank you for contacting Western Digital Customer Service and Support.

Our Enterprise line was design for and test RAID setup where our desktop line was not. Desktop line can still work in RAID setup but you would need to check with your enclosure manufacture first to make sure they would be compatible.

Sincerely,
Tomas R.

I have 4 of these in a raid 5 (connected to a highpoint 4320), performance is decent (each drive is a little faster read write then my wd640, but the seagate drives are faster), so far I have not had any issues with the raid (but I have only migrated about 600gigs to it at this point so its still early).

I usually don't pay attention to Newegg reviews. Newegg is notoriously a poor OEM hard drive shipper. However out of 40 reviews, almost 1/3 are 1-star ratings.

Most of those 1 star reviews are due to them using an nVidia chipset that needs a patch to be able to use drives over 1TB. That is why so many are complaining about it locking up at 73% of a format. The drives are just as reliable as other WD Green drives.

Just a reminder that this deal is expiring so if you want one you should still have a few hours to buy before the coupon expires.

I was going to buy a 2nd one but when I enter the coupon code it says the code "has already been redeemed and cannot be used again." Anyone know how to get around this?
