Dhendra,
as I talked to the guy who pricematched the drive for me, he said pricematching is only the method of dealing between one's product retail price and the other's.

Rebate should not be put under consideration when pricematching.

I think guy who said that just didn't want to let you get away with the thing that he could possibly sell to some others who don't know how to get a good deal.

That's how they scam people.

Thanks to Mysterie's scan, I recouped $60 from Sunday's CompUSA purchase. I didn't even have to worry about calling/stock at Best Buy.

For DC area folks ...

The Potomac Mills (703-385-6030) and Rockville Best Buys still had a 45GB drive each as of today. SOmeone posted that the Tyson's Corner CompUSA has a handfull of 45GB units left.

Yeah, I pricematched BB in NJ, but this was Monday late morning/early afternoon. Picked up two for myself, I decided to just keep one and put the other on eGay (but it doesn't go for jack now) so i'm gonna install the other one too today, and set it as my primary drive...it'll probably be as fast as my current 6.4gb 7200 rpm drive anyway (haven't benchmarked it though, I should do that right now).

P.S. - is it possible to format this so you get the full 45.0 GB? I fdisk it (didn't wanna use their crappy software), and it says I could go to like 42xxx MB (windows claims it's 41.9 GB)...I know you always lose some space, but that much?

41.9 * 1024^3 = 45 * 1000^3

Typical Gatesian obfuscation....

The Best Buy receipt (thanks Mysterie) I used was from California (I'm in Virginia). I just blacked out the location and phone number.

I had a local store with the drive in stock as back-up info anyway, but I didn't need it.

If anyone gets a couple extra of these drives, I'd gladly pay double what you paid($80 each) for a couple.
Email me if you've got a couple unopened spares. :)

that isn't a bad offer..............but.......do you think some one's gonna sell you the drive when they aren't even sure if they are gonna see the $60 rebate from C'USA. an extra $40 won't make it.

Surge;
the Paramus regular store. the one by 4 & 17. i dont know why he did it. i think his name was marc. he is skinny and has black hair and 3 earings in his left ear. he was rushed by some other employee who was like "just do it. its fine". he first said he wanted to see the original. i had the 2 reciepts printed out. from BB and CUSA in CA. i blacked out the location. as i said, i am not sure why he only charged 119. anyhow, the problem is he wrote the new price on my receipt and initialed it (and gave me back my cash). this is bad cause i dont think i can PM w/ it (again). they might say, you just wrote that:), at another store. if you go, ask them to check their records for 10/13. tell me how it goes.

:p

I saw the $119 price show up for a couple of posts and I was wondering "how did he get that price?". I then remembered, I got 10% taken off the Best Buy Drive (my weekend 10% off coupon from the mail) and the price the salesperson probably matched was the $116. If your total was $119 then you also must have low tax. Kudos! You're welcome everyone (for the thanks!), just wanted to give back all that you guys have given.

I'm absolutely amazed you got the price match using a receipt with a blacked out store location? I would have thought one stood a better chance just showing the receipt with the CA location--out of state or not!

Did the sales rep not ask why it was blacked out??? I wish I had such luck!!! :)

as i said, the Jr. Manager guy just wanted to get it over with i think. he wasnt rude, but just in a hurry. if he asks why it is blacked out, say the guy who sent it to you wants to remain anonymous as possible, like the CC number. : - > . that is what i was gonna say.

I'm glad that receipt is from my local best buy..... if anyone should take it, they should! My friend went over there and they had changed the price to $179 already, so this should come in handy. I'll go down there later today!

even better Yet,

CIRCUIT CITY IS COMMING OUT with $100 on the drive......
all of You who buying it tommorrow,
and those who have bought the drive about 13 days ago.... wait till Monday and return the item or PM against the Circuit City price...
I got this info from another thread posted here saying Circuit City Deal Coming Out this Sunday....

If I am mistaken, so be it.... I am just a Newbiee......

Idealistically,
"I am waiting for this till Monday":

209.99 - COMPUSA
PM with Circuit City@ 100 = -100
rebate = 60(MIB) + 30(WD Rebate)

Total = $20
Yeah = 20 + tax

We will see if it works! ofcourse i need to get one in order for this to work!
