Could someone be willing to buy me one using cash and send me receipts. I'll pay for shipping. Pleaseeee, I really need this drive, but I can't get it at my local compusa. 🙁

David

The Compusa additional $60 rebate asked for The original WD capacity label from your retail packaged 45 GB Western Digital hard drive box as proof-of-purchase, can anyone confirm for me where is this sticker? Is it the one in the bottom left front of the box with yellow and blue color? This sticker is together as one sticker with the UPC on the bottom of the box right?
So I need to cut the stick with the UPC to WD and the upper half to Compusa right?
Thanks.

Look very carefully at the rebate coupon. The $30 rebate has only a picture of the lower sticker. The $60 has a picture of the upper part of the sticker, the one that yellow and black with the 45 showing. Good luck!

dont trust the online stock status ! - my local Compusa store was out of stock.. My local best buy store was out too! Guess Im out!! maybe they will get more soon 🙂

Now that the official sale at compusa is over, there are still ac ouple of ways to get the drive for $39.97 + tax. As others have pointed out, the rebate for $60 is good till the 14th. Price match the normal CompUSA price with the Best Buy price of $129.97 since it is there every day price. If your CompUSA will not price match, but you have credit cards that have low price guarantee benefits, get it at CompUSA regular price. Send in the rebates like normal. Next, go to Best Buy and have them print out the their price for proof and send it to your credit card company. I know that American Express Blue has this benefit. Might try to grad 2 more of these drives and connect all 4 to my modded Promise ultra66/fasttrak66 RAID card 😉

Will that work for AmEx Blue? What exactly do you have to get for it to work? Has anyone checked with AmEx?

Hi all,

Could someone please scan a copy of your (blank 🙂 $60 CompUSA rebate and post it? I would be very grateful!

I think I'm going to go and try to find one of these drives tomorrow, but since the "official" advertised sale is now over (at least I think from reading everyone's posts), I'm afraid they won't have any of the rebate forms left even though they're good till the 14th.

Thanks a lot!

This is a really big file of the rebate (everything is clearly shown):
$60 additional rebate-210k

This pic is smaller and is approximately the size of the actual rebate:
$60 additional rebate-61k

I am not sure you can use a photocopy of the rebate for the rebate, you can probably ask the employees to see if there is another way for you to get the rebate form without invaliding the rebate. Hope this helps, good luck!

I would say that pricematching at C'usa is vary from one guy to the other.
The boy that I dealt with today was kinda nice. He called up BB to check the stock and price.

This might be useful for anyone who got denied by C'usa to pricematch.
The boy told me that pricematching policy is to compare between the "Actual Retail price" and "Actual Retail p9ice".
Never take Rebate into account.
If they deny to pricematch because they have bigger rebate, then ask them what the pricematching policy is. (try to argue with them about "Actual reatail price" which is included in their policy)

good luck guys

Even though the CompUSA rebate is good until the 14th, they've raised their price online to $209.99 (don't know if this is in b&m). This is kind of interesting considering they sell the Maxtor 45Gig for $169.99.

Pulled this from the Amex Blue site regarding price protection.

<< You?re assured the lowest price available on a covered item purchased entirely with an eligible American Express Card in the U.S. If, within 60 days of your purchase, you see the identical item in a printed, dated advertisement at a lower price than you originally paid, American Express will refund the price difference to you, up to $250 per item. Refunds are limited to $1,000 annually per Card account. For more details or to file a request for a refund, call 1-800-557-8317. >>

Yeah, that is what I wonder about AmEx Blue. "Printed Dated Advertisement" seems pretty specific and we don't have that for BestBuy.

Maybe this coming weekend BestBuy flyer will have it officially advertised 😀
I'll call Amex and find out if a printed receipt will work.

Summary of phone call to Amex.
Restictions are many.
Most notable.

If store already has an established lowest price guarantee program, the item will not be covered under best value guarantee.

That's pretty much what I needed to hear.

Has anyone successfully done this with Amex? Please give details.

Spindler: you rock! Of course, as you guys know, I had the edison compusa pricematch two drives for me. Mwahahahahahaha...now my system has 90gigs, sure they're 5400, but they're fast enough for me. My FTP's gonna rock!

Went to CompUSA at Braintree, MA and found more HDD. They were still at $189, 2 left. Try you local CompUSA if you still want to get in this deal.

I tried this all day long at CompUSA yesterday and all the WD 45GB were sold out in Southern CA. ALL sold out. I called at least 15 stores. Then I called to order one and they said they couldn't send me one, because it was an "in store" only deal.

The CompUSA in Hurst, TX still has them in stock. Unfortunately, I called
around the Dallas area and no one has the drive cheap except Best Buy, and
they're all out of stock. They weren't as cheap as yesterday, they're
running $179 today.

Not sure if it'll ring up for $189 at the CompUSA though. Might wanna
try it out.
