WD Blue WD20EZAZ 2TB 5400 RPM 256MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive $49.99
Edit: I think that this is the cheapest that this drive has even been from Newegg, sold as "New". I wonder if the downward price pressure of SSDs, is putting downward price pressure on smaller-capacity (under 6TB) HDDs as well, then?
These would make an adequate Steam drive, but you can get 2TB 2.5" SSDs for $175 these days too, and those would theoretically last longer, and run cooler and quieter. To say nothing of your PC being more vibration and drop-proof, if you often "adjust" your PC for various reasons, or need to pull it out or tip it up while running.
Note also that I've seen ex-server refurbs of Hitachi 7K6 4TB 3.5" HDDs around the same or slightly more. Those would be twice the capacity, possible or probably 7200RPM, but of slightly more questionable quality. Warranty from a quality vendor will likely be the same, I think that the WD Blue 5400RPM HDDs only have two years of factory warranty.
In any case, once these drives hit $40-45 ea., and 480/512GB-class 2.5" SATA SSDs hit $39.99 (very soon!), those will probably be my standard storage load-out for "Gaming PCs", unless they have some special requirements. (Or a 256GB NVMe.)
Edit: 2020-10-15: Now $49.99 without promo code.
