Updated, now on sale for $129.99 at both the Egg and Amazon! :)

That's a good price. I'd like to replace the 128GB SATA m.2 drive in my Dell G3 17 laptop with this NVMe drive. What's the best way to do that? Create a disk image and recovery USB drive with Macrium Reflect?

Great prices on SSDs right now. I think I also saw in the latest Newegg email that the 500GB 970 EVO is currently $130.

Both are great drives at great prices. I think I paid $220 for my 500GB 960 EVO a year ago.

dumb newbie question--will this work on my Z97 board (understanding already that I won't get the speeds). I've seen people that say that they can't use it as their boot drive. Not sure I can guarantee compatibility because Gigabyte has understandably stopped keeping up with documentation on my board.

I don't mind futureproofing my HD a bit for my next build, but if it's a giant pain to get it to work with no real (current) gains, then . . .

You asked a similar question before in another thread (before it got derailed): https://forums.anandtech.com/thread...gb-49-76-154-54-amazon.2539477/#post-39333651

It will just come down to if Gigabyte enabled it with a BIOS update, so you might want to contact their tech support to ask (unless you can find a post where someone else who owns your exact board says it works fine for booting off of).
