It is a good deal, but it is not retail. It is BB model, not BBRTL, and it says OEM on the page itself. Alas, that means no pricematching, at least not legitimate ones.

Small business says it gives 15% off on storage, but there is also a 10% universal discount. Looks like they got the coupon preference wrong again - it is applying the 10% discount instead of 15% one.

Anyone know if this drive is overclocking friendly? My friend had the exact same drive and he can only go up to 150 mhz FSB (1/4 divisor). At 151, the drive would crap out and corrupt the data and his Winblows 2k won't boot unless he reinstalls it over. He used to have a 40Gb Maxtor and he could run at 160FSB w/o any problems!

That could be memory, too. Memory handles data wrong-->writes bad data to drive-->you think its the drive and give it to me for free. HOT DEAL!

5 year warranty looks pretty good for OEM. At least I think it is a 5 year warranty.

5 years warranty , 16383, 8.9 ms ( 18 ms ), 100 MBps, 5 years warranty , ( 1 per 10^14 )

Well, what the heck. It shows 136.81, and when you click to add it to your cart, it suddenly goes back to 160.95. Anyone figure this out?

I'd like to stick that 136.81 price, and then get the 15% and free shipping. Now THAT'S a deal.

I'll try for a while, let you know if I succeed. Anyone else please do the same.

I'm seeing that the 136 is exactly 15% off the other. So, that's witht he discount already taken. You have to do some foo foo registering to get that price to stick. Once you do, that's the rock bottom. Still a good deal if you NEED a drive, but since I don't, I guess I'll wait.

Doesn't Dell charge sales tax on purchases made though Small Business, I believe they do (that adds approx 6-8% to this deal). If they do actually charge tax the deal thru Home and Home Office might be the better deal (10% off and no tax charged in most states). Comes to $144.86 shipped

I had the exact same problem with an IBM deathstar, that's just how these drives are, of the three maxtor drives I have they have all gone to extremely high fsb, over 170... this is one of the reasons I only stick with maxtor

For what it's worth, Outpost/Fry's has the retail drive "on sale" after rebate for about the same price, although you have to fork over $199 to buy it, and mail in a $60 rebate. Rebate is only good through the 21st of Feb (must buy now through the 21st). Additionally, you have to consider the shipping, which isn't free. But, here's the link:

Retail version of this drive for $139.95 after $60 mail in rebate

Edit: Even cheaper by doing this:

Looking up the old Office Max thread, there's still a way to save an additional $30:

Office Max savings

Then, look up the WD drive. It's $199 minus $40 rebate. After additional $30 savings, it's $129.99 with free shipping. Rebate expires today (must buy by today).
