Newegg says it's OEM on the product listing, but it still comes with a 3 year warranty so no worries :)

wouldnt the maxtor be a better deal at $100 shipped? as it also is a 80 gig 7200rpm but the access time is less than 8ms as opposed to the 8.9ms.

The WD has 8MB of on-board cache, the Maxtor has the standard 2MB. The Special Edition benches like a SCSI drive in certain respects.

OEM hard drives come with 3 year warranties, so everyone that keeps saying " I got mine from dell with a 3 year warranty" you can cut it out, all you got was a pretty box.

80 is HUGE enough--I've got thirty now, and JUST got to the point of filling up...I'm thinking about buying this puppy...I can't image 80 not being enough for you, unless you are doing video editing or have the world's biggest pron collection.
