I just received two of these from an email on friday. They are no WD labels on them but my PC says they are Western Digital WD800 drives.

My price to my door was about $35.00 each.

Our everyday low price: $39.99
OUR PRIVATE SALE PRICE: $ 29.99

30 Day Warranty
Format: Ea
Weight: 2 lbs.

These Western Digital drives are the same drive we have been selling for over a year and we have had great success with them. Our supplier made us an offer of these units with no labels at such a great price we had to accept!
Standard 3.5 Inch Form Factor
80GB Capacity
7200 RPM
2MB Cache

2mb Cache + 30 day warranty =

Good I guess for cheapie systems?

OP you've already received these? Are they new? Sounds like they are refurbished (or stolen 😛 no warranty, no labels??) Personally I'd spend another $10 and get a new one from Newegg. But they might be good for somebody...

30-day warranty? PASS!

I buy from them all the time. They has a retail store in Hawthorne, CA. They had a pallet of the drives and they seemed to have western digital shipping labels on them (from what I could see from a distance)

I have installed the first one in my PC with an XP Pro load and it loaded right up. I don't they they are used, they look new to me.

Yeah stolen pallet most likely! 😛

Nothing fishy about this company at all. I have purchased a few times from them in the past, although the last time was probably 5 years ago. Their service was excellent and their shipping times were also quick and cheap. I wouldn't hesitate to do business with them again.

Likely these are the "white label" drives you see on pricewatch, being advertised for 2/3 the cost of a new retail or oem drive. "Just like western digital, seagate and maxtor", blah blah blah.....

Bottom line is, they're refurbished drives. Thus the 30 day warranty on them, and also why they look new (is cuz they got cleaned up & shiny during refurbishment).

Chances are you'd likely get one or two bad drives out of ten, and get lucky with the rest. Question is whether they'd go bad before or after 30 days? If you look around on Pricewatch, you can find vendors (like 3Btech, I think?) that sell these, and will give you a longer warranty than 30 days, for around the same price. They're not the cheapest drives per gb, but they are inexpensive if you're looking for something smaller to put in a cheap build computer, where you don't care about losing the data, like maybe a child's computer. 🙂
