WD 80GB 7200 RPM $5 - AR, PM, Amex Blue

Ok so I don't know how kosher this is, but I am sure the flaming or the mod will let me know. If this is not allowed for any reason please go ahead and lock this thread.

Best Buy is selling a WD 80GB 7200RPM for $199.99 - $75MIR
I purchased this drive with Amex Blue and then price matched it with the same drive at www.pcbuyerclub.com for $125.
I then noticed that the same drive was at Circuit City for $149.00. So I went to Best Buy and they PMed the HD plus beat the price by 10%.

Final price comes out to $5 including tax ($199.99 - 75MIR - 75Amex - 60PM)

Let the flaming begin.

BTW This deal at BestBuy only lasts until the 9th, but I talked to Circuit City and they said they would have the drive for this price next week as well. So get the drive at BB ASAP and worry about PMing it later.

Is this the Circuit City 149.99 an "ad" or like "online"

This probably one of those YMMV depending on if BB will PM CC.

IF they dont....still not too shabby....65~ for a 80WD...

I am not sure exactly what Circuit City is doing, but it is $149 in store and listed as $199 online.

how would u then pricematch then!?

Would u to tell the guy at BB "yo give CC a phone call" (of course i mean after u buy it, called in AMEX with the PM)

=) ?

<i want to this deal to work!>

Did BB pricematch and give you cash back? If they gave you credit on your AMEX then, obviously, AMEX would know - especially if it was within a couple of days. Also, were the drives both retail? I think AMEX needs a direct model-to-model match before they'll "protect" you. Good luck anyways!

He has a point there!

what, double dipping is moral now? im sure amex will eventually change or drop their policy considering the abuse...

[wish i had amex]

Purchase another product you want or a giftcard with the difference from the Pricematch. This way they will not credit back the Amex card.

it's not wrong, it's that how would it work, you won't get the amex price match if they see the credit from bb on your cc

The drive at pcbuyerclub.com is a retail drive so you do have the model for model match. I spoke with Best Buy and they said that when they credit your account it will only show up as a credit from Best Buy and would not give product specifications. So AMEX can't really do anything since it could be a credit for anything else.

Well..its certainly a hot deal, but I cant help but feel that it is
also a shady deal.
I guess if the deal goes thru, its pretty easy to rationalize that hey they made
the rules not me, but this one smells like it will come back to bite you.
