WD 80GB 7200 $100 Free Ship No coupon/rebate

Can you pricematch this with Bestbuy? They have the drive listed for 179 bucks.

So, it would be 99 - 7.90 (110% of the difference)

I'm not sure BestBuy would match an online price. What do folks think?

i think this would be considered a very hot deal since most retailers are offering it at $179.xx!

anyhow, best buy will not PM to online vendors, not even to their own .com site.
 
Best Buy will pricematch local Circuit City stores (at least mine does) and this drive shows as available in-store at least for me. If you want to PM, check local availability.
 
I agree this is a hot deal. No rebate involved is a big plus.

But I've also read in the other forum (fat...) that next Sunday Staples will be selling the Maxtor 80GB 7200 for $150 - $10 instant rebate - $40 MIR = $100. Add an extra $10 worth of stuff, use the $30 off $150 coupon, and you can get the drive for $70. Of course, for this one, there's a MIR to deal with. But the up side is, if I remember correctly, the Maxtor 80GB 7200 comes with a free ATA/133 controller card, and also you have a chance to get the new quieter fluid bearing model.
 
Docinthebox...pretty sure the Staples 80gb HDD will not come with ATA133 card...someone in the other thread checked and it was ata100 80gb drive ...

do ata cards take any cpu compared to a mobo controller?

also newegg has oem drives for about the same price shipped if u consider taxes.

Thanks! I'd still check in-store next week to see if they're ATA/100 or ATA/133 though. My experience has been that some stores do not update the description of their SKU's. For example, a while ago when Office Depot had a deal on the Maxtor 60GB 7200, the description also says ATA/100 but people are getting ATA/133. Some people even got the fluid bearing model which is definitely ATA/133.

In fact, if you look up the Maxtor 7200rpm HD's on Office Depot, all of them are described as ATA/100. But people who bought from OD recently can attest that they all get ATA/133 drives.

 
Or, you could buy this drive this week. Use the receipt to price match. Then return this drive and get the mail in rebate as well.
 
My local CC BM store had lots of these on the shelf--about a dozen, priced at $99!! Great deal--thanks to Robrr.

[edit] Forgot to mention: These are 7200RPM, ATA100 drives in the store.

Yep, they're available in store. Each store should have at least 10 of them before opening on this Sunday
 
docinthebox...you are right and what you say is a good point....you may very well get a ata133 80gb at Staples...the MAxtor I bought at OD a few months back was a ata133 40gb drive with liquid bearings....

the real thing to me is no hassle with the rebate..waiting for the money is a pain...and I am amzed at how often they never receive the info...but at least if you call and resubmit most of the time they do get you the money...no problems at this point woth the office stores
 
In store. According to the website 3 stores near me have em. I may go try and PM at Best Buy. Do I need an ad or can I just tell them to call them? CC's weekly ad online shows the drive for $149 - 50 instant rebate. Will best buy do it if it involves an instant rebate?
