IMO, Monarch is excellent. Ordered a custom Athlon 64/939 system from them about six months ago and was having all sorts of stability issues. Narrowed it down to the RAM. They asked me to send the box back which annoyed me a bit, but when I got it back they had replaced the RAM and cable tied all the loose cables. They also sent it back with a new front panel for the case. The original had snapped off. I didn't send the case back with the panel and I didn't even tell them that it was broken.

Good to hear.

how loud is this thing I have had WD's in the past and they all sounded like jet engines. I never had to worry about my fans as they would be well below the scream that was coming out of my PC.

Monarch is excellent guys. Don't worry about it. For CA residents it's better than Newegg b/c there's no tax.

I've been looking at drives wanting to upgrade, adding to my 80GB SATA WD drive. This is great, won't have to worry about using up all of my hard drive space for a while.

My dell 8400 came with a 80 GB SATA drive, but that's definitely not enough space. Hopefully this drive wont' have any problems working with my current system. 320 GB is a lot of space :)

I've never bought a drive that was "OEM". This means that there are no cables?

I'm guessing that I just need an SATA cable? Anyone know a good reputable place to buy cables?

I have come to accept that hard will not be named by their actual capacity, but it seems very unethical to say "Formatted capacity=320GB". That makes it sound like it should show 120 gb in windows after formatting, does that sound like false advertising to anyone else? (even more so than the usual hd capacity bs?)

Well, I have a Dell for now, so I am assuming that Dell does not have the cable that I need. I am pretty sure it has the power cables that I need, just not the data.

So basically any SATA cable at svc.com is good? I dont' care for all the UV/Neon stuff, but a basic clear one would be fine.

no, sata drives actully have a different power pin than the molex. just make sure your dell has that, or you can get an adapter.

and yes, svc is fine

I am not 100% sure but last time I had it open I thought I saw a second SATA power connector. I'll open it up again tonight to be sure. Thanks though, ordering a clear cable from SVC now :)
Can't wait to get this drive!
