WD 200GB ~$50 after MIR, PM

Price match to Sam's Club for $150, $100 in rebates online. Didn't see it posted, so...I think this came from fat wallet...GOod until the 3rd...Anyone in the Boston area, there's a dozen 200 giggers at the CC in Somersville, zero in Dedham, and one more in Natick (I spent a lot of time trying to find the 200-in-160 for $20 deal). No more 160s anywhere.

I got this deal at the CC in Natick, MA. The first guy ringing me up didn't want to PM Sam's Club even after I explained the 10% walk-in non-member situation at Sam's. He got the manager, the manager was aware of the 10% thing, and I ended up buying the 200GB drive for $165 (Sam's price +10%) with no indication of price reduction on the receipt.

While I was there I picked up a Lite-On 411S 4x DVD+/-RW drive for $130 - $60 MIR = $70 (which has a thread around here)...

With any luck, $150 for a 4x DVD burner and a 200 gig HD...cool.

Explain the 10% walkin deal. My circuit city won't match Sams club....is this 10% thing a circuit city corparate policy?

I did this today, it took me a couple of stores to find someone to give me the pricematch. My concern is that they are going to shut down the rebates if we all jump on this. There will be some red flags popping up and CC tracks all of their reciepts. The rebate does not mention anything about pricematching though, but I don't think that will stop them from denying at least their rebate to go through.

We may have a good argument on our hands if we were not stoped by the CSRs and the rebate does not state that pricematching may not be combined with rebates. (Like Best Buy Does)

Sam's Club adds 10% to ur purchase if your not a member. You don't need to be a member to shop at Sam's Club.

I tried this unsuccesfully at the Rochester, NY Victor store (Henrietta is OOS).

I even prepaid for the item online, but when I went there she said, "We don't pricematch Sam's club", when I argued that you can pay 10% more and buy there as a non-member, she said, "well, there's a rebate on the item anyways".

I returned it on the spot.

Oh well, worth the try. Good luck to the rest of you.

This pissed me the hell off! i tried the same thing but they said they couldn't do it cause they dont pricematch sams club. I told them about the 10% walkin but they said that they have rebates and SAM's club doesn't...however thats not mentioned in their pricematching policy so i'ma go back tomorrow and argue the hell with them. It is by all means legal in their pricematching policy and they don't have any exclusions listed online or anywhere that i can see. if u guys have anything to support me wiht tell me straight up and i'll use it against them.

Woohoo! Worked like a charm in Connecticut, they didn't even spank me for the 10%! Just handed them the printout from Sam's website at the register and the cashier just rang it up at $149.76, and both rebates printed out.

FWIW, North Haven and Trumbull have stacks of 'em, but they aren't on display with the other hard drives. The bored kid working the department said, "if we had any, they'd be in the case." It was only after I insisted that they were still showing stock according to the website, that he reluctantly agreed to check stock. What do you know, they had 12 on hand!

My question is this, though. They clearly intend for you to get both rebates, but they both want the original UPC. What is the official word on who gets the original and who gets the copy?

That's weird...I'm almost positive mine said original and copy...I imagine the original should go to the manufacturer and the copy CC.

I am going to try this at a couple CC stores today. Printed out all the necessary paperwork to make this happen. Fingers Crossed we will see. I will let you know the results.

Cashier got it all rang up, took off the security device, when she noticed it had a rebate. Called the manager who said no, can't price match & rebate. After talking to him a bit, he wouldn't budge.

I'm thinking of buying one, then I'll take the reciept back next week and price match after they forget about the rebate.

CCS Policy is this, as defined to our employees.

The price match policy states that we will match any advertised price or a national store, however this excludes single day, clearance, rebate, and web site sales, as well as others to the option of the individual store. The store I worked at allowed the customer service department to match anything as long as we understood the consequences of our actions, like profit loss to the store, previous history of trying to rip off the store, returning customers to the store, etc. Most often in customer service we were able to get around the policy of absolutely saying no by offering the customer a gift card instead of cash back, even on those opportunities where the offer was not required and we could just say no. This usually made the customer happy to have us doing what we could, while also ensuring they would return to spend the gift card.

My suggestion is to walk into the store and try it out. If they say no, try talking, respectfully of course, to them and offer the suggestion above of a gift card, explaining how it would work in both of your favor. If they still say no, ask for the corporate office number politely and give them a call. From the point of view of a former CSS customer service associate, please don't be rude to the representative. If they can't think outside the box to help out their customers, getting angry and upset will only make them less likely to see things your way, and will only make you less likely to understand that they are being paid to follow the store guidelines within their abilities.

Hope this helps for anyone still looking.

i really dont care if they are "wise" to it. its absolutely legal and they HAVE to do it according to their pricematch policy. of course i will be polite and stuff but i'll do what u said axo, if they dont' budge, i'll talk to their corporate offices.

Went to 2 CC today. Both said no and that they were aware of this deal already. The one manager said that they received an inter office memo that said they are not to allow this.... So much for my attempt..

Pricematching is YMMV. The CC I go to has a Sam's Club on the other side of the street (250 feet away). I always get the pricematch at this store. A membership to Sam's Club is a plus too. Of course, once a rebate is involved then a PM should be YMMV at this point. I've been lucky at this specific store so far.

If you read CC Price Match Plus Guarantee , it does not mention membership clubs.

Advertised price - Any printed or electronically broadcast price that is verifiable and made available to the general public. Special offers or promotions do not qualify. This includes, but is not limited to, rebates, free-with-purchase offers, and special financing.

Local store - Refers to a location in the same metropolitan area and/or within a reasonable distance of our store, as long as the lower price is advertised.

Same item - Exactly the same model, in the same condition, new, in a box, with applicable manufacturer's warranty available.

In stock - Available for sale and delivery that day.

Yesterday went to closest CC, in Pgh, PA area. They would not honor pricematch w/SamsClub.
Today went to CC, w/SC nearby. They did not have 200gb, but would allow me to pay for there, and pick up at another CC.
They honored the pricematch, w/SC

Again, good look'n out!!!

hmmm. mixed results aren't encouraging but nothing to lose trying (exc gas, time, & temper). ;)

I've been following this thread and saw product in two different stores. I think rebate period is through Saturday. I've also seen the CC boxed WD 120's mentioned in another post but the two rebates only bring that one down to $69 I think.

would be a good way to start off the year.
