Pardon Our Interruption...
www.ebay.com
Rapidly approaching the cost of a flash drive. You have no excuse for not backing up anymore!
Direct from WD on ebay.
That's been the standard connector on USB 3.x external and portable drives for years. Here's a 15-inch USB Micro-B cable for $4.40 with free Prime shipping: https://www.amazon.com/External-Tewmsc-Compatible-Toshiba-Seagate/dp/B0B5CVS4DJ. You can get a 3ft.+ cable starting around $6 at Amazon.Element 1TB drive arrived today, currently doing a slow format, then error checks etc. First thing I noticed is that it uses a weird (to me) tiny USB double connector, AFAIK the adapter cable that comes with it is called, USB to Micro B. Don't lose it, not cheap to replace.
What do you think about portable SSD drives? There is offers in same as HDD price for 1 Tb drivesnot for backup, single drives are for transport of data you have otherwise stored in reliable devices.

The basic concept of "reliable" starts with no or very very rare single point failures. Single devices can be very very rare failure, but they are inherently single point fail able. For me to consider any portable device as reliable, the data needs to be securely stored on something else as well.
