The credit to this find goes to videopho. It was posted in the old thread but the op is not around to edit it to show the correct information. I decided to make a new thread showing the correct price and info.

WD 150GB raptor HD for $169.99 before tax and shipping. No rebates or nothing to deal with. Kind of nice. Decent deal.

Model: WD1500ADFDRTL (this is not the windowed version).

Picked mine up today after ordering online on Thursday. It's the 16MB cache non-windowed version. I'll probably Ghost my old 74GB drive to this tomorrow. Trying to figure out WTF is up with the super-lame SATA cable they pack with the drive, it's headed straight for the trash bin.

I bought mine @ BB when it was $169.99 + tax.
It seems the 150gb is slower than its much smaller sibling $37gb, especially at boot up. 😕

Hahahaha, took in the coupon to BB and got a price match for the Raptor X, the CS rep didn't notice the difference.

The funny thing is the cashier forgot to charge me sales tax, I didn't notice til I was on my way home. I turned around and went back because I knew they would take it out of the poor kid's paycheck.

why you saying slower speed? several review said the 150GB is faster than the 74GB, even alot faster than 36GB raptors

I guess I'm not the only one. Its very simple to PM stuff to places like Best Buy and get away with slight differences like that. I recently PM'ed a Samsung DVD-RW at Best Buy but took up the SATA edition which looks the same except for the small SATA sticker on the box. Got it with no problem.

Im not sure where you got that from but.... The 74gb version is faster than the 36gb. The 150gb has faster transfer speeds over all of them but the 74gb does have the fastest access times. Which is a very slight difference. Its a moot point if you ask me. If you think about it, stores charge around $120-$150 for the 74gb version, and for just $20 more you can get twice the size. Even if it is slightly slower, its worth it.

I've got that from my own experience. Mine was the 37gb which is a little small for Vista so it went then came the 150gb. It's got the size though, nice!

This deal is back, and here's the link.

A quick online survey of Froogle, Shopzilla and Pricegrabber shows the best alternative would be $180 after $30 MIR at Newegg or ClubIT.

Taxes would apply in these 12 states:
? CA? GA? IL? KS? MA? MI? MN? NY? OH? PA? TX? VA

tempted. but seeing how i only use raptors for windows OS (Vista), 74GB is plenty enough for me. my games are stored in another 320GB seagate 7200.10 drive.

I thought the Western Digital? SecureConnect? brand SATA cable was an improvement, what is it that you see is wrong with it?

I have my 74gb raptor short partitioned to 30gb so I can use fat. It boots up and loads games like a champ.

I would assume doing the same thing to the 150gb raptor would gain even more benefit. What do I need storage for? I just play games, browse the intrenet, and check email.
