WD 120GB $38 AR/BVG (possibly 8MB Cache)

Purchase the 120GB Western Digital HD at CircuitCity for $169.99 + tax. There is a $30 MIR and a $50 MIR. Use AmEx BVG to pricematch Googlegear at $118. Use up your AmEx BVG while it lasts!!!

$169.99 - $118(AmEx BVG) = $51.99 + tax
$169.99 + tax - $51.99 - $80(MIR) = $38 + tax

This is the 2MB drive. I just picked one of these up and when I opened this up, there was a note inside that stated "ADDED BONUS: You have just received a higher performance hard drive at no extra cost! The drive you have received is a Western Digital Special Edition hard drive which features an 8MB cache buffer...."

I'm naming the label for the HD "AmExBVG" in memory of the great deals I got out of this program.

Thanks for the info.

Were there are any product codes or production codes on the outside of the box. Or in other words, were there are any codes there that would let someoen know what they're getting.

cc drive # WD1200BBRTL gg drive # WD1200BB

RTL = retail

Just checked the rebate address. Both to Young America. I still have 2 rebates totaling $150 from Young America, and it's been 5 monhts!!! Damn, this place is too shady, otherwise I would jump!

cc hd is retail gg hd is oem bare drive

I have pricematched to OEM more than 20 times and have never had any problems. 5 of those times have been for this drive alone. I have even pricematched the 8MB cache to a 2MB cache before.

If you mean whether you can tell from the outer box if you will get the 8MB cache "upgrade", no, you can't tell. The outside of the box is for the normal 2MB cache with no special markings. If you do get the 8MB surprise, there will be a pink slip inside notifying you.

ahhhh, mine has 8mb in it 🙂 at least it made up for the rejected BVG's attempt using my amex.... she said retail vs. OEM (bare) = no match.

question...hope its not too dumb:

which amex card allows you to BVG? and what does BVG stand for? I currently have AMEX blue for students

Amex BVG is "Best Value Guarantee". Basically American Express offers 60 days of price protection on 'exactly alike' items purchased solely with the Amex card. The cards that offer it (such as Gold Card) offer $1000/year with a max of $250 per purchase, and I believe a minimum of $10 (Thus they don't send a check for a difference of $9.99 or less).

I've used it on a purchase for my sister of a Nikon 4500 - Amex pricematched to a vendor I wouldn't think of purchasing from.

What is your serial number?

similar to the 80 gig 8meg cache. WD gave 100 gig drive instead and everyone who got one serial numbers started out the same.

Not to get off topic, but you should call up the rebate center. If that doesn't work, go to CC or wherever you bought the stuff and demand a cheque (show them the copies you kept of all the rebate stuff you sent in.)
