We are pleased to break the first details that have leaked regarding the Geforce GTX 790 that have finally surfaced. We finally have a bit of concrete insight to Nvidia’s response to the AMD Vesuvius. However do still take this with a grain of salt because of its nature as a leak and not as an official confirmation.

Nvidia ”GTX 790” Will have 10 GB GDDR5 of Memory, 640Bit Bandwidth and 4992 Cuda Cores – Stated to Release sometime February.

It appears that the ”GTX 790” will not be a Dual 780 Ti, a Dual Titan or even a Dual GTX 780. It is rather something inbetween these three. A 780 has 2304 Cuda Cores, a Ti 2880 and a Titan 2688. The Nvidia Geforce GTX 790 will have:

  • Cuda Cores: 2304 (x2)
  • Memory: 5Gb GDDR5 (x2)
  • Bandwidth: 320 Bit (x2)
  • Core: GK110 (x2)
The source of the leak are our Chinese friends over at MyDrivers.com. The interesting thing is that Maxwell is geared for release anytime now (maybe by tomorrow) and if this leak is true then it could mean that the Maxwell Flagship isn’t here as of yet. Otherwise it would make less sense to release the ”GTX 790”. Then again both Green and Red have made seemingly illogical moves in the past.
The other obvious reason, and the one i think is much more likely, could be its response to the Dual GPU Vesuvius that AMD is preparing. A Dual vs Dual, Green Vs Red showdown. However We can see that even with their much better Reference Coolers Nvidia has curtailed its Cuda Cores while on the other hand Vesuvius would be full blown Hawaii XT Cores on their bad reference coolers. Possibly Vesuvius will not come in a reference design at all, but that is mere speculation on my part.
Finally, our source also says that you can expect the Geforce GTX 790 anytime in February. Also there is word in the air that Nvidia is deciding against a GTX 780 Ti 6GB

Got to laugh at the garbage rumours that always come out of wccftech. They can't even figure out that a 320bit bus per GPU does not mean a 640bit bus...... And 10GB VRAM, meaning 5GB per GPU ?

This rumour is more like someone at wccf hit some hard drugs and wrote down the hallucinogenic trip he had about a fantasy video card. :D

Where is the 780ti black and Titan black they made up ? Still waiting for that one to come to fruition... That site is a joke and their rumours amount to reading tea leaves to see the future.

There are rumors...and then there is FUD.
This "news"...seems like FUD.

God i could only hope for a such a card but it does seem unlikely to happen with Maxwell making a appearance soon.

Please put the source in front of the thread title. If I had known it was from WCCF I wouldn't have clicked on the thread.

Sure you would have. ;) Even if just to read the horse-pucky.
Still should quote the source in title regardless.

I thought we weren't getting 20 nm GPU's for quite some time? Like next summer or so.

I just want to throw this out there. The leads about the 290 and 290X at WCCFTECH were accurate. Did these complaints occur when they "leaked" the 290X being 10% faster than the GTX 780 from the AMD fan base? No I don't think they did. Yet here is Maxwell. Oh no. WCCFtech is suddenly not a viable rumor news source. Cool stuff. Isn't it. It's not like wccftech is a semiaccurate. Where Charlie has a clear bias and hatred of nvidia, and doesn't make any effort to hide that bias. Therefore when anyone quotes semiaccurate, this is brought up and is a valid point. Charlie D. is an idiot and has been wrong on several rumors regarding nvidia over the years. His track record isn't stellar and he hates nvidia.

Whereas wccftech is basically neutral ground IMO. And this is a website that posts rumors which start from AIB chatter and posts at chiphell, expreview, among others. It should be mentioned that the guys in TW are "in" the supply chain and they have information earlier than anyone in the states would. And that is where WCCFtech generally gets their information.

Lastly, perspective. This is a rumor, nothing more and nothing less. Nobody said these are set in stone, that it is an absolute truth. The rumors for the Hawaii turned out to be accurate. Just saying. But suddenly wccftech is garbage because hey it's news about Maxwell or a GTX 790. Whatever. I do think Maxwell is near. There are FAR too many websites stating that AIBs are more or less "telling them" that Maxwell is coming and coming soon. So you can bet that it probably is indeed coming soon - the GK104 had similar rumblings prior to release. GTX 790? I dunno. It would be strange given that Maxwell is near. But we'll see I guess.

Some Nvidia fanboys think everything is a conspiracy and the AMD people are out to get them for every good news for Nvidia that comes out.

Ohh people.
Go to a doctor, you might me loosing your mind.

A FUD is a FUD irrespective of whatever camp it comes out for.

I don't even know where you're getting that. I personally think it's a rumor and take it as such.

Where's the conspiracy? AMD out to get them? IMO i'd say AMD fans are more guilty of the "conspiracy" stuff with intel compilers, nvidia cheating, reviewers being biased, reviewers out to get AMD, etc etc etc. This kind of thing you more or less see all the time. But let's not get into that. It's off topic.

It's a rumor and nothing more, no one is stating that this is an absolute truth which is set in stone. Move along if you don't like it. No need to start a flame war in any case.

Seems a little late to be releasing a dual GPU card, no? How early in the generation did the 690 launch?

This didnt happen.

Nobody discredited wccftech because it was Nvidia news, wccftech was discredited this time because the alleged NEWS they are reporting are more likely to be made up by some idiot as a past time.

Finally, I believe we will get a Gtx 790 at some point in time, but not with the specifications Wccftech listed.

One of my favourite wccftech trash rumour 'leaks' :

February-18-Is-NVIDIA-GeForce-Titan-Day-of-Arrival-2.jpg

They photoshop a die shot and stuck it on a random blurry PCB shot and called it an 'exclusive leak'

The site is a joke.

You're busted, Groove. You're just a closet AMD fanboi, discrediting any good nVidia news that comes along. :D /sarc

Personally, I agree with those who think that site isn't worth the bandwidth it uses to load up, regardless of brand. We get more accurate news here.

Wut?

I will glady debate Maxell with you and it could be near. Nvidia suprised me with GK110. They may do so with Maxwell. But WCCF is not a credible source. Half the stuff the post is ramblings from forums or claiming info is exclusive and nobody even goes to semiaccurate anymore and I don't know when last I saw an article from them and I'm fine with that. I'm pretty sure maxwell is ready and Nvidia just need to decide if it's going to be on 20nm or 28nm.

I think you need to relax a little man.

Not that I've ever gone on that site but that's obviously a mask to hide the rest of the card, not an attempt at Photoshopping a different chip on another card.

People do this to prove they have a sample on hand but without giving away which of the outlet the manufacturer sent out samples to it is, just in case there's any marking on the card that could give it away.

Except for GK110 not having an IHS and the obvious photoshop of the chip pictured there not actually being a part of the image of the blurry PCB...

Wasn't that originally from Videocardz? I'm half expecting the 780 Ti "black edition" to show up as a "880," that is, if it's even real in the first place.

Man, let AMD out of the thread, please...

Wccftech simply don't care about credibility, their work is to spread out newest internet rumors to a average tech reader.
