[WCCFTECH] NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1180 leaked info and performance

I never saw a problem with WCCFTECH. I like their exciting rumors and leaks. They give us what we want...LEAKS. Also, rumors. Also, I wonder if the guy chose his site name while drunk and thought wooftech would be funny, but went the cool route and used C's instead of O's.

Oh, regarding the card. Jesus almost forgot about the card. Anyway, basically a die shrunk 1080ti with higher clocks and DDR6 then. That sounds like a good card, but for $700 its pathetic compared to what we already have. Looks like Nvidia is turning into Intel with their crappy gains? Oh well.

Hopefully Intel gets into the GPU game so we can get crappy gains from those who do it best. I like sticking with what I know, and I know Intel is the best when it comes to raising prices on the same performance levels, so, bring it on then.
 
I have no idea whether this is remotely accurate or not, but the performance chart shows a 50% increase over the last gen card its replacing. So if true, would not call that a "crappy gain".
 
nV has been doing a ~50% performance increase per mid range (xx4) and high end (xx2/xx0) parts for the past few generations, it's their target.

It wouldn't be unexpected to see GTX1180 be 50% faster than GTX1080, and whatever GTX1180ti ends up being, as 50% faster than a 1080ti/Txp.

It's certainly overdue, they've sure milked everything they could out of Maxwell/Pascal.

I guess if you come from a mid range card like a 1080 then the gain is a fair one. Problem is this 1180 cost $100 more than the 1080 did at launch, sooo. That's $700 minimum, which is 1080ti pricing. Therefore, this is a CRAPPY GAIN.

This is what you call too much money for not enough relative performance increase. That's also exactly what is called a CRAPPY GAIN.
 
50% gain at 15% higher price after 2 years is crap.
Its just awfull and its killing pc gaming long term.
Still i will probably have to buy this slow and expensive midrange gear because its the max tdp i can handle and gives me max perf for that.
As a bonus i get this wonderful gsynch to top it off.
Well i cant get off this gsynch prison soon enough so lets hope navi at 7nm at least can do the same.
 
And when I said that it would have been called "1180" instead of "2080" like a lot of people incorrectly said all of them flamed like no tomorrow...
 
There was a reason for the informal rule of putting Wccftech in the thread title...

Sure they could be accurate, but I wouldn't bet on it.
 
Regardless of whether or not this leak is legit, it's probably accurate. The 680 - 980 was 50-60% at launch (although the gap widened over time) and the 980 to 180 was 50%. The next gen Gx104 part having a 50% performance increase with the same power envelope (or maybe even slightly lower due to GDDR6) is about as good as a guess as it is a real leak. The $699 price tag sounds about right, too. The combination of mining eating up all supply and inflating prices, coupled with no competition on the high end means Nvidia can charge a premium and still sell every card it can make for the first 6 months.

The more interesting release, as always, will be the 1170/2070 part. If it's 1080 TI performance for $499 with GTX 1070 power consumption, it will be way more attractive. I still wish it was more in line with past 1070 prices, but until AMD can deliver competition across the board in a reasonable time frame without breaking the power bank, Nvidia premiums are here to stay. I'd even be somewhat happy with a $449 release, but I doubt we will see that.
 
"Leak". These are the same numbers that many even here have speculated for many months.

16 GB/s GDDR6 on a 256-bus. Oh, what a shocking revelation.
3584 cuda cores. We guessed this long ago here, and Titan V 5 months ago only further solidified it. It's the same ratio for the X104 to (fully enabled) X100 (and presumably upcoming X102). 3840:2560 is to 5376:3584.

~50% performance over GTX 1080. If only there were some pattern to clue this... oh yeah. Every other X104.

We (collective GPU nerds here and elsewhere) predicted all of this last year. This is more educated guessing masqueraded as a leak. And it will probably be just about right.

I'd also bet money on GTX 2080 instead of GTX 1180, so to me this just further proved there is no leak.

All you can do is look at recent history. Very few went from 980Ti to 1080, and very few will go from 1080Ti to 2080. The new chip will be a step faster, not really "sizeable".

If you can properly time a resell to where you spend very little on upgrading, it would be worth it though.

Are you then asking whether to buy a 1080 Ti or wait for 2080/1180? Doesn't change much from what I said: look at 1080 vs 980 Ti, see if you want to wait.

There's not a gigantic performance difference once you max OC both (980 Ti has more headroom). IIRC around launch the 1080 only enjoyed a ~15% performance advantage when both are max OC. No guarantee this repeats, ofc.

Undoubtedly, the 2080 will be faster and use less power. Beyond that consideration, price and availability (release date and especially aftermarket coolers) remains to be seen.
 
Yeah that’s pretty much the situation. May be worth it to see if someone will unload their 1080ti to upgrade. Not sure I wanna wait though. Got that itch to scratch lol
