According to Benchlife, a new Intel roadmap has seemingly confirmed that Intel is preparing the latest Kaby Lake-G processors. These processors will feature advanced technologies that do away with the older, conventional design scheme seen on Intel consumer chips. The new processors will feature core tech utilizing 14nm process and will have a dedicated PCI Express link to a separate discrete GPU along with faster HBM2 memory.

Intel recently confirmed at their Technology and Manufacturing Day that they’ll be moving towards a more robust and heterogeneous architecture. The new architectural layout will allow Intel to mix and match various CPU components and dies based on different process nodes and interlinking them on a single chip.

This would allow Intel to do away with the cost and efficiency of a single monolithic design and utilize smarter and more efficient designs for their future processors. The new processors will utilize an embedded, multi-die interconnect bridge allowing for high density and high bandwidth, die-to-die interconnects.

The main difference between a multi-chip package and a multi-die integration technique is that the former has poor density of die connections and interconnects while the later is not only denser but brings significant advantages at a lower cost. Intel could have gone with a silicon interposer layout but that costs more due to the massive number of TSV’s that need to be embedded underneath the main dies.

They will be releasing two gen of chips within the same year. By end of 2017, there will be two new retail chips, 14 nm coffee and 10nm cannon , both coexisting. What the point of this???

Also, wasn't there rumored Intel chips will start using radeon igpu?
Intel will probably release coffee lake as a slighly improvement over SKL/KBL and Cannonlake in 2018(or later)

No, 10nm Cannonlake is for low power -U and -Y chips. The 14nm Coffelake is for higher end laptops and desktops.

This -G part is supposedly for graphics with Radeon GPU on-package.

Is this AMD GPU thing actually happening? Feels like total BS.

If its just sticking an AMD GPU onto the motherboard then it would be a lot more simple...but also it doesn't sound cheap to implement and wouldn't even really feel like anything new. I suppose AMD would want to sell their GPUs anywhere they can and Intel might hate nvidia enough (since all competent gaming laptop manufacturers ignore the overpriced high end Intel iGPUs and just stick an nvidia card in there anyway) that they would partner with them.

I still don't really believe it though.

I'm with you. Frankly, I won't believe it until someone from Intel actually says that they licensed GCN tech for their IGP from AMD. At the moment it seems like such a move would be detrimental to AMD's release of Raven Ridge (Ryzen APU with Vega IGP) later this year.

Intel has proven that they can make a competent IGP (Iris), but they are absolutely sh*t at driver support. Even their newer non-Iris IGP is capable of decent 720p gaming and even 1080p low-mid depending on the game, but again, the lack of game updates to their drivers are the nail in the coffin.
