In comparison, the leaked Ryzen Threadripper 3000 CPU scores 5519 points in single-core and 68,279 points in the multi-core tests.

Full "article" about the Core i9-10900X can be found here

Offtopic: i really dislike this new layout on this forum, seems like it's purely made for phones :(

Single core should certainly be higher for the final product. This test was clocked at only 4.4 ghz all core, which I assume means turbo was not active.

Check the article - those results aren't for Comet Lake, they're for Cascade Lake-X. The socket is LGA2066, and the L2 cache per core is 1MB; it should be 256KB for anything based on the desktop architecture.

Um, why? The i9-9900X has a max boost clock of 4.4 GHz:

Cascade Lake-X is not going to be that much different. I can see it having max boost somewhere around 4.6 GHz maybe? 4.4 GHz all-core would actually be decent given its predecessor.

In other news:

So the 10900X is supposed to be an HEDT CPU? Right. But hey, PCIe lanes.

In a lot of cases Skylake-X was a performance regression compared to Broadwell-E, so it's not surprising that Zen 2 is eating it alive. Even the 10C desktop Comet Lakes will probably outperform anything below a 14C Cascade Lake-X.

Probably. Which is kinda sad since Comet Lake has no known core or cache optimizations. It should perform exactly the same as Coffeelake (and Kabylake and Skylake) per core/per clock. Cascade Lake-X just doesn't look that good either.

Given Ryzen 3900X existence, this is embarrassing. Intel is just releasing this to so that a few OEM's can sell them as new tech.

Is this due to the Ring Bus interconnect in those Xeons?

Xeons don't use ring bus anymore. They use mesh. There was core bifurcation starting with Skylake/Skylake-X in which Skylake-X received mesh, AVX-512, and some cache restructuring. The combination of the different cache setup and mesh makes Skylake-X (and Cascade Lake-X) slower at similar core counts/clockspeeds to anything from the Skylake family. The advantage to Skylake-X/Cascade Lake-X is that it can scale up to 28c on one die. Thus far we haven't seen anything from the Skylake family break 8c, though 10c is coming eventually (Comet).

While true, for Skylake-x HEDT, you could simply overclock the uncore and regain all the losses (which mostly affected only gaming).

I'm not sure it's all the losses. It does help. But I haven't seen enough head-to-head comparisons of overclocked systems to know for sure.

That was somewhat true in era of 8MB L3 SKL/KBL. 12/16MB of fast inclusive L3 is much harder to beat. And nowadays it is tiny in the world of 256MB L3 designs from AMD.
It has nothing going for it. Latency is horrible compared to CFL, bandwidth is miniscule compared to multi L3 domain ZEN2 designs.
