Might as well call your main board Pompeii then.
I suppose there is 5% more performance in dissipating the heat across twice the area, and thus getting slightly more efficient cooling and therefore less temperature and higher efficiency. Because more power isn't available, unless they go ahead and ignore the PCI standards, and make this a 350-400W card. Might be best to make it 4-slot and put a big tower cooler on there... 😀
 
Provided it doesn't use a blower, it could be a great card. Each core will have to run at a slower speed than a normal 290/290X though.

Betting its gonna be using a 7990 like cooler with triple fans, could be models custom made with 3 slot cooler assuming this card will be sandwiching full on 290x cards.

Yeah cooling the card is going to be tough, but given the improvements with custom coolers on the single version its possible. Would be a heck of a performance card if the price is right. Time will tell all. 😛

I read the translation, there is no source or time frame. while I don't think the fact that someone could be working on it is completely out of the question,the blog post and subsequent reporting of such is kind of funny, but I can see if maybe they wanted to let us English readers know about the rumor which I do not have a problem with. sometimes the lack of any credible source gets lost when a link reporting about a link is clicked though.

The pci-e standard has been more like a suggestion rather than a reg for a while now. 😉

From the same website that said G-Sync was going to be exclusive to Asus...without reporting that it is actually the standalone unit that is going to be available to Asus 144mhz users as a ad in card for early adopters if they wish to do so.

Not that this card is not going to happen, but in my mind wccftech.poop is not very credible..so best to take this with a grain of salt until better sites start reporting it.

If this were coming out soon, like December or so, I'd be tempted to pick one up. I'm waiting till there's a good aftermarket 290x or a pair of 290's and I'll be done for a long time.
 
I think this one is legit from them. I think we're going to see the first reference VC that has a closed loop for cooling.
 
Help me out here. I know these types of cards are always very fast, but whats the benefit over having two cards in crossfire? Is it cost? Space saving? Ability to have 2 of them in quad config without needing 4 slots? All of the above?
Used to be that these cards offered similar performance as two cards, but for less money. Hopefully that trend sticks and AMD ignores what NVidia charged for the 690.

All of the above. Plus the power usage can also be lower. Look at the GTX 690 reviews.

A dual 290X with a 3 slot cooler would work great.
