Ways to soften up a memory foam mattress?

Just got a cheapy (but well reviewed) memory foam mattress that's a bit on the firm side - would a feather bed/mattress topper ruin the heat transfer ability of the foam?

it gets softer with body heat. alternatively, you can nuke it in the microwave for 30 seconds on high.

Blackdogdeek is correct. The warmer the foam, the softer it will be. Turn up your home's temperature a couple of degrees. Summer is coming, that temperature change will save you money too.
