Didn't anyone take Earth Science and did an experiment with (whatever it's called with a wet and dry thermometer spun in a circle. Sling something or other)? If so, you would have put something wet around the bulb of a thermometer, moved it rapidly in the air, and used the evaporative cooling to calculate the dew point. That is, through evaporative cooling, you can get colder than the temperature of a steram. Thus, this method would not be effective on humid days. But on days with a low dew point, you can drop the beer to a much cooler temperature. So, if it's 85 degrees outside, and the stream temperature is 75 degrees, you can still get that beer down to 65 or lower - depending on the dew point. It'll take a bit of time though.

I was born in '82 and don't remember much from my "lower" education, but that seems a bit advanced for public education in rural Ohio. I learned about evaporative cooling when I lived in the desert, and latent heat when I was in college.

For the people that are saying "use a fridge" or elaborate methods, try reading the video description to understand why this video was made:

Ever been on a backpacking or camping trip, or on a picnic in a hot place and the beer you brought is warm?

Also keep in mind that to some people "camping" does not involve rolling a 30+ foot trailer or RV into an asphalt parking spot with some trees around it.

Did this....I was in the gifted program though. I think that was 6th grade.

Wet bulb, dry bulb thermometers, and also dew point is the way this works...you only need two out of three to determine how much water the air holds at a given time.

Necro thread (sorta) but....

Wot?

Does a one month old thread really necessitate the necro moniker? Guess I have been living under a rock, because this thread was probably only on page two compared to the old days of OT, where it would have been on 8 at least.

It's not going to work so much for a beer application, it sounds cool though on the internet.

Buy a bag of ice, add some salt (most convenience stores will have some, you may have to ask), and add H2O.

mix it up, then add your drinks of choice and mix them into the blend.

Get your chick naked, leave her 'socks' on (hope for knee high or better stockings) and profit.

IMHO, I have a high level of smell and taste, I wouldn't want a cotton sock that was worn all day around my drink. It also doesn't solve my second drink issue.

Ok, this thread is obviously a loss on most ATOT posters, as their idea of "roughing it" consists of a hotel room with no wifi and a malfunctioning ice machine.

Believe it or not, people, there are ways to get fully removed from technology and decompress in true nature. It is pretty much the only benefit of living in a country so large and spread out. So the next time you complain about the internet, it is partly because remoteness is such a possibility here.

I didn't want to address you specifically, seeing as how you are the butt of some very good jokes here.

Being a stereotypical Floridian, you definitely don't understand your state actually holds some natural beauty. If air conditioning ceased to exist tomorrow, the population would decrease at least 90%, but that is neither here nor there.

I would rather be "alone" with some select real life friends than try to culture e-friends which you would have to sift through your 70 thousand posts to try to cultivate.

I haven't really lifted much, I tried to focus more on cardio. I have been slacking the last couple years, but back in the day I have been at elevations that would make your sea level mind cry for mercy.

By all means ridicule me, but I think by not bragging of my accomplishments here I have more than achieved my goals.
