Ways to bring faux "natural light" into a room without windows?

We're moving into an apartment with a room without windows (convertible 3 so the living room was split). It's not uncommon here in nyc but, having lived in a similar situation I remember how depressing and oppressive the room felt no matter how many lamps I'd throw in (or natural light bulbs I've used).

Is there anything out there that simulates natural sun light well? I've seen natural light reading lamps but something that covers a larger space would be nice.

Yep. A high frequency light at 6500K color temp looks like a sky light. A frosted lens will diffuse the light from the bulb(s) so that it doesn't look like it's coming from a small point. I recommend induction lights because they are really high frequency (so there's no florescent flicker) and usually last 100,000 hours.

5000K color temp minimum lights of the highest lumens you can find with the widest angle of dispersion.
