Way too old for this, but I'm going to ask anyway...comics.

Watchmen is the only one I've ever read, and i enjoyed it. Been looking to read more, but I'm in the same boat as the op. I need a series to get into. Doesn't matter if it's old.

Question to the op: which tab do you have? I was hoping the nexus 7 would be good enough, but sadly i think I'd need higher dpi to really get into it. (Based on the fact that reading is a lot nicer on my gnex @ 720p than my sgs2.)

Marvel does a lot too.

BTW there is going to be a new Sandman.

Was going to say Neil signed on to do another Sandman.. I think he said this one is a prequel to the series and tells what led up to him being trapped..

oh, and if you like the vertigo line then I'd say stay there, and branch out.. 100 Bullets was pretty cool, not really spandex or fantasy but really really good story telling

Watchmen was great!

I'm using a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1. It says the resolution is only 1,280x800, but that one comic I tried looked very good to me!

Looks cool, thanks. I love noir, so it sounds like it would be right up my alley.

Even with the existence of the high dpi Retina display of the iPhone4, I have never seen anyone actually complain about DPI.

Well ive heard that comic books are one of the few things that make a huge difference when comparing the newest ipad to the old ones. I can definitley notice it in ebooks, so i figured comic books would be the same.

That being said im probably gonna cave on the nexus 7, even though i wish it were OLED, so id feel more comfortable about ditching my nook simple touch for it. (just gave it to my sister to either buy the new simpletouch w/ backlight, or the nexus 7) Im just trying to justify how much i need it vs just getting a dedicated reading device. Right now i have my Gnex for reading when im in the dark, or dont have my nook with me, and then id use the nook when im home and in a light enviornment. I prefer reading white text on black background if i cant use e-ink, and LCD isnt gonna cut it. Arghhhh, decisions....

I am leaning toward getting an e-reader (probably the Kobo since I am in Canada) just for books since the e-ink is much nicer to read and easier on the eyes when it's just pages of text, but for comics, this tablet looks darn nice to me and seems to be the perfect size.

I've seen the movie Watchmen and it's okay. Is the Watchmen comics different from the movie? If so, then I'll try to read the comics.

Also, you can try Manga(Japanese Comics) if you're into that thing. Lots of good titles for everyone.

the Civil War series was a joke. it started off great then went downhill.

last really good series was World War Hulk.

All the big crossover series suck. I can't even be bothered to pirate Avengers vs X-Men anymore.

Read the first two issues of Black Hole last night. Pretty interesting and a bit odd; I think I'll stick with it. I like the odd darkness of it.

Are there any of the classic heroes (Superman, Batman, Spiderman etc.) with maybe darker, more recent series that are worth reading and that I don't need to read years of back-story on?
