Way to edit MP3 tags?

Have gig's of music, and would like to do a mass edit on the mp3 tags. A lot of the file names are either title, or title-artist, and a lot don't have genre tags on them. Any suggested programs to make editing this process easy?

Mediamonkey, The Godfather, or Music Brain should do what you need. Google em and try one out.

I'm finding all of these clumsy (but workable in a certain way) for my situation. I have MP3s that I have no idea what album they are in the first place. I do have artist and title (some truncation - about 15 ~ 20 characters of both). The problem with all of these programs is that they expect the same album to be grouped together in the same folder.

I'm finding that Microsoft Zune has the best, easiest to use interface for finding album and album art. HOWEVER it's not updating the tag. That I can tell. It seems to be storing the information off in perhaps a 'library' file somewhere including album art as a hidden tiny jpg image. I bet when I transfer all of these over to my Creative ZEN _or_ if I find all this stuff, then use one of these other programs to rename/reorganize my MP3s by album folder instead of (PUNK) and (NEW WAVE) folders, then my library would get terribly confused and I'd lose all the work I'd done in Zune.

Anyone have any specific ideas on helping me out? IF Zune would alter the MP3 directly it would be a godsend. I was also directed to musicbrainz but I haven't gone there quite yet. Also I might try to add Microsoft's server to Media Monkey, which is my next choice albeit awkward...but I don't think that the database information is going to help me as much as core program functionality.

OK the absolute best program by far, with all my hours of playing, for finding MISSING information at least (not necessarily for organizing) is Microsoft Zune. It finds matches, updates all sorts of tags including my truncated information AND it chooses compilation type CDs LAST (a problem I was having with one of the other programs.) It's doinga superb job - it's very slow though, but that's OK I'll leave it spinning overnight (for 2 days at this rate.)

Surprisingly, I've found iTunes to be the best mp3 editor for me.
You can edit files indiviually or in mass groups.

ID3 tag it which i posted a link to is exactly teh same as tag and rename but its FREE

It does look like it does some of the same stuff. I'll have to download it and compare. I'm so used to TnR's interface at this point, though, it'll be a tough sell.
