Waves on my CRT Monitor

I just bought a Samsung 19" monitor from bestbuy.

I noticed these weird wavy lines in the background and they appear very well on dark screens. When i'm viewing something bright on my computer it usually cant be noticed but i do notice these wavey lines and they are really starting to bug me... is this normal?? Also i notice as if there are longitudinal lines from left to right located all over the screen.. when the monitor is off it looks normal. These waves just kinda stretch their way across the screen from both sides !! grr its pissin me off

Could it be that this monitor may have been exposed to hard blows or weather that was unsuitable and caused this kind of thing or is this just something thats normal with these kind of monitors

I updated this from a 17" CRT Samsung and i had no problems what so ever with it!

Plz help !

here's a link to the monitor http://www.bestbuy.com/site/ol...=cat01011&type=product

Tommorow i will just go back to bestbuy and exchange it and hope it was just a defective monitor and not due to the specific model of this CRT! Also the reason why i chose CRT is because i prefer them for gaming hehe

EDIT: does it make a difference if drivers are installed? I havent done that but i never have had to so j/w...

I probably have the same monitor as you (997DF), and my picture doesn't exhibit what your monitor is doing. Try degaussing it in the monitor menu.
