Wavebird wireless controllers for Nintendo Gamecube - $19.99 after trade-in @ EB!!!

I picked two of these controllers up last night, and they rock. I'll probably pick up two more using this promotion.

Right now at Electronics Boutique (EB World/EB Games) B&M stores, you can trade in your old corded first-party Gamecube controllers for $15 credit each. You may only trade in 1 corded controller per Wavebird purchase, with a maximum of two per household.

This deal was found here and confirmed by my local Electronics Boutique (Grand Rapids, Michigan). The notice for the promotion is in the company daily report, I believe. If your store doesn't seem to know anything about it (like mine didn't) ask them to check their "daily" or "weekly". The guy at my store was unaware of the promo until he dug through some paperwork to find the notice.

Promo lasts until June 30th, so get out there and get wireless!!!

Hmm...Just tried calling the two stores in Jersey City, NJ and neither one could verify the promotion (they even "checked" for me). They said it might start this weekend though.

Damn, I was just there! They didn't have a price on 'em and I figured I didn't want to bother checking because they alway drop at Wal-Mart a few days after release. (GBAs dropped to $89 within days, while everyone else but Target was selling for $100 and up. The same "situation" happened with standard controllers, $35>$29, and now $29>$25>$19.99!)

Went to my EB and they didn't know anything about it.

Same mall, went around the corner to Babbages and they offered 12 bucks for the original controller.

I accepted. After tax just short of 25 bucks.

Great buy. Perfectly responsive. I have my game consoles in a cabinet and can close it while playing, one +.

I will miss the rumble a little, but can live with it.

Well, just to update you guys, I went to my EB last week and traded in two of my first-party corded controllers for two discounted Wavebirds.

Total for the two Wavebirds was around $42 after tax! Now I've got 4!!!

So I've confirmed it and IGN.com confirmed it... what are you waiting for???

It's store credit you get in exchange for a trade-in. I think a 3rd Party PS2 controller pulls about $5, not sure. Can check on that if you like...

The stores in Jersey City, NJ still do not recognize the deal. There are 2 stores in the Newport Mall (one EBX and one Electronics Boutique), and neither one will honor this. Anyone know of any stores in the Northern NJ area that are definately honoring this deal? I want to pick up two of these.

Are these really that good? I've been happy with the standard controllers, and I just don't know about spending $20 in addition to the $30 - $35 I spent originally for the 1st controller. (Remember, they just recently had a price drop; the controllers were $29.99 - $34.99 when GC first came out.)

they wavebirds are absolutely amazing. You don't need a line of sight. Amazingly responsive. The best controller yet.

Definately worth every penny. The only problem is that the Wavebird doesn't have any rumble feature. Other then that, it's just as good as a wired controller for response, and even better for the wirless aspect. No more having to coil up the cord when you are finished, or having to sit at a fixed distance from your TV (you ever get a bunch of people in the same room playing a game? Usually you just rotate seats depending on who's turn it is. Now just pass the controller arround!). Anyhow I love em...... if you can't tell already. Plus, better off spending $20 a controller then $35.

I assume there are batteries in the controller itself. How long do they last?

According to the manual, the batteries are supposed to last 100 hours. I haven't used them nearly that long yet so I'm not sure if that is true. The controller also comes with two batteries.

I traded in one of my controllers. It was a spice one and the B button was broken. The guy didn't even care. Furthermore, he punched in the deal wrong so instead of getting $15 off, I got it FOR $15.

I got my Wavebird for $25.00 at Target less a $5.00 online Target coupon that someone posted at another website. The EB deal is great if you can't find the coupon. They have the same deal if you want the Type S Xbox controller where you trade in the original "big dog" controller. The other thing is, that if you want the Type S, there is an instore $10.00 coupon that can be used if you buy a new X-box game @ Target that is. (You can see I shop there a lot)
