It's usually Overclockers who want the max overclock, but even for us stock speeders better quality ram can eek out some extra performance. That said, I'm like you, I buy cheap ram and have never had issues with it.

You are running at 197mhz on your memory? Sorry but thats nothing to be excited about at all. Try running at 1:1 at that 300fsb and post /wink

For running nothing but stock speeds cheaper memory is ok unless you like the performance gains from low latency.

But pushing up past PC3200 (esp with low latency also), expect to spend some cash to get those gains.

Not much... 1-3 percent maybe in the right apps by pushing either lower cas 2 timings at your 197 or runing similar cas 2.5 timings like me at 533ddr.....Like I said pretty minor in most things....

Dont worry about it...

AMD systems run better at 8+ rather than the 6. This is a long established fact.

have you thought of upping your voltage? If you dont then your ram wont run to its full potential! Please ignore if you have!

Cheap ram usually runs at 2.5 volts and the good stuff runs at 2.8 usually!

But check your manufacturers specs to be sure!
