Watermelons

I think Seedless watermelons are just regular watermelons picked before the seeds develop.

I could be wrong...but I thought I read/heard that somewhere.

Odd number of chromosomes. I thought it was a mutation, but I guess they crossbreed them:

That's why stuff like this might not taste too good to people. They have to clone a specific plant which might sacrifice taste for being seedless, or always crossbreed and settle on the result.

When I was a kid, all the seeded watermelons were round.
Those that I buy at Costco have some seeds, but not a lot, and a re slightly elongated
 
MMMM, Watermelon. When we'd go camping I liked it with a plug removed from one end, and a bottle Vodka stuck in to drain. Replace the plug, let it soak chilled for a couple of days before eating...
