Watercooling!

Alright, building and maintaining computers is officially my hobby now. I'm really considering getting Water Cooling for my CPU here. I'm not quite sure where to start though, i'm sure someone could point me in the direction of a guide or something. I'm willing to go around $130, just need something to get me started, what products/kits should i be looking at?
Also, i got a stupid question:
Can i easily disable the water system if i upgraded my computer? Like say i got a new CPU and Mobo, could i easily take off the water cooling system of my old system and equip it with my new system?

Answer to your perfectly sensible question:
Not as easily as you would with an air cooler. You'll need to empty the system of water before you start moving it, plan where to put things and possibly cut some new lenghts of tube for everything to fit.

Or in short
It's as easy as installing the water cooling in the first place. It takes time and care, but the results... are worth it 🙂


As for your first question, I have little idea about your market, but the thought of a strickt budget when water-cooling hits me as problematic. Things might happen underway...
You might want to save up some more before starting.
I see Swiftech has some complete packages - and they've been in water-cooling for some time now. With a complete package you don't have to worry about tube sizes and fittings, which was my chief worry 🙂

go to overclockers.com in the tips&techniques. It will help you to get a good watercooling system, and possibly help you look into building your own, since it will be cheaper and better (if you have the time and effort)
