Well i have decided to waste all my money on a AM2 setup as well as a water cooling setup. I have had water cooling before but not anything amazing. just a apogee, D5 pump, t-line, yadi yadi yada.

Stuff i thought would be good, bold means i don't know what to get:
-Swiftech MC220 120.2 Rad
-CPU BLOCK
-D-Tek Fuzion GPU block w/ramsinks
-PUMP
-T-Line
-DD Fillport
-Tygon tubage

My budget is around 250 but can go a bit higher if need be. It would be nice to have a 1/2 setup but would go for 3/8 if the price is right. Let me know what we can do.

Here is what I suggest:

For the water block, get an Apogee GT or the D-tek fuzion. I have the fuzion and it works very well.
For the pump, the D5 is fine, nothing wrong with it at all.

To save some money, if you got some masterkleer tubing instead of tygon you can save quite a bit. Sure, it isn't quite as flexible but it is 6x cheaper. I use it. I use this masterkleer 7/16" tubing - the benefit of 7/16" is that it gives about the same performance as 1/2" tubing, but is a little thinner so it is easier to route, and grabs onto 1/2" barbs really well for a good seal. And for the masterkleer, it is only 49 cents per foot 😀

I would actually recommend the Swiftech MCW60 GPU block instead of the fuzion GPU block - the fuzion GPU has a lot of restriction (more than the Storm CPU block!) which is strange considering the fuzion CPU block is a very low restriction block. For ramsinks I suggest the Enzotech BMR-C1 sinks. They look similar to the Swiftech MC14 sinks but have a few more pins and have good thermal tape on them that actually hold on. I guess the swiftech MC14 ramsinks are getting a thermal tape upgrade but I don't know how soon that will be available, I suppose it depends on how fast the stock turns around at the stores.

If you have room, the swiftech MCR320 would get you better temps. It is only $10 more IIRC.

Awesome. yeah i thought the tygon was a bit expensive and i couldn't think of the name that had the cheaper tubes. i went with the MCR220 just because its smaller but since i have a thermaltake Armor full tower i should be able to fit it just fine. Just need to take out the back HDD tray and ill be all good.

The D5 has a variable speed controller so im sure it will do just fine. I'm pretty much at my maximum spending limit as it is so going any higher is out of the question. thanks for the input though.
 
Sparky basically sum'd eveything i would of recomended. However let me tweek his statements a little.

If you want to cool a quad, i would recomend the ApogeeGTX and uset the new hardmount kit it comes with.

Im in the middle of testing the accelerators for the fusion, and it does cool the dual cores better, however on quadcores, i still get uneven temps. The apogeeGTX i got more even temps across all 4 cores.
 
Thanks for the info. I'm not going to be cooling a Intel quad anytime soon as im one of those AMD fanboys 😀. That said, the GT should do fine and at a great price.

I shoudl be ordering this setup in about a week or so as my mom owes me some mad cash.

Ummm make sure you dont bow the block as well. It has shown no benifits on an AMD platform, and also, the mounting required for a working bow is hard on the AM2 platform. Also you will warp your block forever, so you get a perm bow if you decide to bow.


Also id get DSH's since your running them on a rheobus. That would give you some headroom on very very hot days, which i think we will be getting. And they downvolt very nicely, and are very quiet at medium DSM settings.
 
bowing is when a thicker O-ring is installing in the base of the waterblock to cause a convex curve to the contact plate for better contact on a convex IHS.

DSH and DSM are Yate Loon fans. DSH is the 80CFM version and the DSM is the 70CFM version. Aigo is talking about undervolting the DSH to 7v to run at near DSM specifications very quietly.
