Hey guys, long time forum browser, first time poster.

Been spending the last few days tweaking my new system.

So heres the data ive gathered in the last few days:

Idle shot:

TAT shot:

orthos shot:

I have it rock stable at those settings you see above.

3.8ghz was no boot even at 1.6vcore. =(

heres a shot of 3.7ghz
http://i52.photobucket.com/alb...pitpitan/OCorthos1.jpg

i can run orthos blend all day using that, but when i tried TAT i blue screen in a few seconds.

All tests conducted in sync mode with my ram running at 5-5-5-15 2.4v
All tests conducted at around 3-4pm on a hot afternoon in so cali.

At night i hover at or just under 30c idle.

So is TAT instability a bad thing even if i can run orthos blend for long periods of time? (so far)

watercooling questions:

whats the highest vcore some of u are willing to go with watercooling?
should i add a chipset block?

any other tips, advice or suggestions are appreciated, always looking for new ways to improve my rig building and setup.

Also, big shout out to the wiring guide, helped me out a lot from the pics u can see.

Could be a bad thing.

TAT stresses the cores to the max. Do you have throttling enabled?

Yes, instability with any software means your overclock isn't stable, assuming it isn't a game that hasn't been patched yet, but needs to be. I mean, are you planning on building another system, so you can run the software that won't run on this system?:D

lol, i think i can run most software on this system, save for maybe sup com performance compared to a quad core and some video editing, photo editing stuff. Im gonna have to mess with settings a bit more, quite a time consuming process.

those temps are way to hot. personally i think anything over 50 degress is way to hot for a cpu to run smoothly. if i were you i would not run any more voltage than you already have there.

Your funny.

Anything over 50 is way too hot on coretemp?

Then i gaurentee you that 85% of the people on this forum who overclock are running there processors too hot.

Incase your wondering the thermal shutdown on a C2D is 85C. And anything below 70C is considered safe in overclocking.

The max voltage on water is 1.55V Anything higher and you need more exotic cooling or you risk damaging your CPU if you load it up all the time.

The typical voltage i set my E6600 is at 1.4V core real, or about 1.46Vcore Bios.

On my quad i go as high as 1.47Vcore real, and 1.535 Vcore bios.

Op i told you on your other post, your temps look great. 47C load is nothing to be crying about. Infact you'll make the people on air cry.

And my quads all cores load up sub 60C. And if you say thats too hot, then you dont have any ideas on quads, because my temps are actually quite awesome, at its settings.

Wow Thanks for totally misreading my post. its why i said "personally i think".

im sorry but i don't like my processors anywhere near the halfway point for boiling. and again this is IMHO, not set in stone. if your going to criticize and be a smart arse then do it through pm. thanks.
