Waterblock compatibility/corrosion question

Hello all,

Way back when y'all helped me set up a WC solution, and its been working great ever since. Recently, I've been mulling over purchasing a 780i board. As of now, all my parts are from Koolance. I can re-use a lot of the parts, but the Northbridge waterblock would come from here:

I asked about the composition because I am concerned about galvanic corrosion and was informed:

"The wetted parts are:

Top = Acetal Mono-Polymer
Base = Alloy 110 Full Hard Copper

All hardware is 18-8 Stainless."

Seeing that my WB's are '21K gold plated copper', would there be a possibility of said corrosion taking place?

Thanx for your responses!

your radiator isnt. its made of alu.

thats why your koolance blocks are plated gold with alu tops. :p

And who is the one that recomended koolance to you?

Dont drop anything non koolance on your loop. You'll run into big big nightmares if your radiator is the alu component.

Koolance is prejudiced,, It keeps in it's own box well enough, Integrate and you have problems.

So Aigo,,, how long have you been directing people to Koolance? did I miss something? ;)

thats what i wanted to find out so i could slap him.

You need to stay with koolance if your running on koolance. However keep note to ugprade about 3-4 parts, you could of gotten a complete new setup and done a full migration to copper only.

Id be very careful with koolance and other companies. Maybe XSPC might be compatible as the also share the alu top with gold plated.

Zalman is also another company you can look at for solutions. But, yeah, be very careful with that koolance.

I am almost positive that the next time I monkey with a WC project I will do 2 things:

-check here first and ask questions
-be a little creative. Half the fun is putting it all together!

Probably best that way. There are a lot of parts coming out all the time and the top dog for water cooling is usually changing fairly often, atleast compared to air cooling where despite all the designs that come out, one cooler will usually sit on top for at least a year.
