Water sensor for home

Hi, is anyone familiar w/ an internet connected device that montitors for water? I'm hoping to find some IOT zigbee or SmartThings sensor that can send a text message/e-mail when the sensor detects water. My parents have a vacation home in florida and the A/C unit is in the attic. It has a catch pan for water condensation and will drain to the outside, however, the drain gets clogged and they find water spots on their ceiling a lot. Lucky the AC unit is in the garage so the water spots don't have to be repainted all the time. However, I'd like to try and set them up with a doohickey that can alert them that there is water pooling up so they don't have to wait to see there's an issue. I thought I remembered reading an article on a tech site where someone went all in on a "smart house" and a water sensor was used but I can't find the article, and thus the device. my 5 minute google search came up empty other than some server farm setups, which is not what they need.
EDIT: ok so I needed 5 minutes & 30 seconds of searching... This is what I was looking for. Has anyone used one before?

Join it to your controller and set notifications when triggered. I have one in my sump well in my basement so I'll know if the water is getting high without having to go down and check.

What they need is overflow switches which kill the ac whenever the drain gets clogged. You will need one in the drain line and one in the drain pan. That will prevent any spills. The water sensors will tell you there's a leak but won't do anything to prevent it.

I know a couple of security alarm companies that have water sensors (which is basically sonar sensors that senses rise in level) -- SimpliSafe being one of them --they have a Wireless water sensor. -- Which is connected to their app.

That would work, however, you would also need to buy a SmartThings Hub, which is the router for SmartThings gadgets & requires more setup. There is another way - this is a little more expensive, but doesn't require a middleman:

$139, detects water as low as 1/16", supports email & text messages, and talks to wifi. You can select either one or two water sensors, either 5' or 25'. This is what the sensor looks like:
