So I had an a bottle of water in my car that I drank out of. I left it in my car for a few days. Today my gf told me I should throw it out cause it's bad now? Is she right?

if it smells funky then it's bad. if it's cold where you are it's probably ok. but anyway it's just water. why is this even a question?

Water is never just water. If you buy bottled water, it's treated to all hell.

It'll be fine, though.

Meh ... its possible for harmful bacteria to grow in bottled water, but after only a few days, the odds are in your favor & it should be fine to drink.

algae, bacteria from your saliva etc. water definitely can go bad

Algae? I thought Algae was full of vitamins and minerals.

even if it's not harmful (not sure really, my impression is that it is), it still tastes funky

as a general rule you should only reuse plastic bottles like that maybe 2 times. But who cares. I reuse them all the time. I have the immune and digestive system of Zeus.

Sure. You just go right ahead and suck down some blue-green algae and let's see how you feel in an hour :p

Chemicals can wear off pretty quickly in water. All I'm saying is that after a few days it is possible for water to "go bad".

I leave water bottles filled from the tap in my car for weaks at a time. It's important to have water in the desert. Never had a problem. Filtered water really won't grow bacteria, even bacteria need minerals and nutrients.
