Water Cooling. Worth it?

I was thinking of buying this for only $49.99. I will be running Opteron 165 hoping to get atleast a 2.6GHz overclock on it. I heard this isn't the best water cooling but I'm on a tight budget. Also I really like ti because of the looks. I have a clear side panal and It will look sweet.

I know this is probably Case's/Cooling so Anadtech moderator if you agree just post it there or delete this.

Just get an xp-120 i am guessing you will have better temps witha pretty good fan on top panaflo low or sumthing.

A good watercooling kit cannot be matched with even an excellent air cooling kit (normally). Thats the whole reason it was developed and produced, because its BETTER. But becuse you are on a budget, the XP-120 might be your best bet.

if your on a tight budget heres an option. go to an auto parts store and pickup some cheep rad for like $10. then go to a tubing store (not a home improvement store a TUBING store, or hardware store) and pick up some tubing thatll fit vary snugly over the rad barbs. (i used a heat gun to smash mine on it) ya can pick up some fittings from frozencpu.com and you can get your blocks there too. (make sure you measure out all the stuff before you go and buy the tubing) you can use just about anything for a res. if you get a large enough rad you only need a small res. now back to your local hardware store for a pond pump. (yes a pond pump there like $20) make sure itll fit in the res. then go home hook it all up and leaktest. your set.

The only reason I would won't a watercolling over XP-120 is because the looks. I know with the opteron 165 it can get a 2.4GHz overclock on stock air cooling. So I just like the look of Water Cooling and I am a case modder (NOT HARDCORE) but enough that I want WC.

lol, that water cooling unit will not look cool my computer repair teacher has that coolmaster water cooling he says the pentuim 4 "needs it" because it gets soo hot i dont think you want to be like him he super n00b half the time he doesnt even know what he is talking about.

LOL, haha he sounds like a nOOb and a half.

What if I added Red dye to that woudn't it look pretty pimpin?

I would rather you get red tubing and just use distiled water in case there was a leak it wont ruin your system.

SO WOULD IT BE EASY TO GET THE TUBING AND DO IT MYSELF?

Water cooling is usually only best for super-expensive processors. The coolers generally cost large amounts of money, at least $70-$80 and usually over $100, but they yield minimal results when compared to retail air cooling. In order for these minimal results to make a difference, it means the next step up (if such exists) must cost more than the cooler.

HDD waterblocks are totally a waste of time in any desktop PC. It's far too much of a hassle to integrate into the circuit for the benefits.

If you're gonna get a watercooling kit, do it right and get quality so you'll be able to reuse from system to system.

The Opteron 165 would take well to watercooling, as would any dual-core CPU.

I've just gotten mine 3 weeks ago and is generally very happy about it. I've ordered some new fans though since I think the ones that came with the kit are too noisy.
temps are in my sig, but the main reason fo me to get this kit was to reduce noise, while having a nice overclock.

I have an old Koolance PC-2 and I am at 2750 on my X2 4400+ and 521core 1414mem on my 7800GTX and it is pretty quiet. I am happy. I have one core that will reach 2900 but the other, well the other tops out at ... you guessed it 2750 Prime95stable.
