water cooling temps

I just finished my water cooling setup but was very discouraged to discover that my idle and load temps are only about 2 C cooler than with my hsf. Here is a picture of my setup. Do you guys have any suggestions as to why my water cooled temps blow? One reason I came up with is that it may not have enough air exhausting from the system.

Your stuff looks way to crowded. Water cooling advantages can only really be seen in overclocking. If your not overclocking why would you get water? Noise purposes? Get a bigger case.

sometimes going to water from air, there is stagnant air around your socket...so it doesn't seem as cool compared to your air temps. you should be able to get higher ocs and lower load temps though. put a fan over the socket and you can see a temp drop.

Someone else mentioned this too. But the temp sensor is the built in one on the Asus mb. Should a fan still effect the temps? I'll still try it when I get time.

LOL I would test the oc temps but I can't get my processor to overclock.

If anything from the pics it looks like the rad cant breathe well, and it does not appear to be effective shrouded. Due to inherit dead spot in front of any radial fan, you need to back the fan off of the rad by at least 1 inch. Also, its hard to tell from the pic, are you running cpu, chipset, gpu and hd blocks? What pump is this, an L20? You got lots of restriction in this setup and the pump, whatever it is, may not handle enough flow. You may wish to remove the chipset and hard drive blocks and see what you get in return. Also, set the rad and fans outside the box to trouble shoot and shroud the fans and get them about 1 inch away from the rad.

I updated the pics with the changes I installed. I did add the shroud.

water cooling stuff:
Swiftech mcw5000-64 cpu block
danger den Z chipset block
danger den old style gpu block
Clearflex 1/2" ID tubing
Hydor L30
Chevette (or same type) heatercore
round res

I agree that air flow through rad is not the cool ambient air. If you look at the new pictures on my
website I show where the rad can draw air from. I think it draws most of the air from inside the case. When I run the system with the side panel off (from the side that doesn't have a big opening to the rad) there is a temp drop of 3C. I think it may just be the Asus temp probe. When the side panel is on it blows the warmer air across the cpu block. I heard that temp probes can be effected by air, even when water cooling. Do any of you have suggestions as to how I can create more holes to draw fresh air without messing with the sleek wavemaster front?

I would try to disconnect the chipset block but that requires I remove the mb from the mb tray...a long process. My case is so packed I don't even feel like touching it again.

Are you pulling air through your rad or pushing? It's kind of hard to tell from the pics, but you might try slapping shrouds on front and back and ounting fans in push-pull. You might be better served by mounting the rad at the top of your case to get some outside air through it. What's all that tape covering up?
