I finally finished setting up my water cooling system. I was just wondering if it was worth it! Here are the specs:

Iwill KK266
Athlon 1Ghz@1.292Ghz
Eheim 1046 Pump
Radiator which I found lying around. It's about 6"x5".. Perfect for 120mm fan!
DangerDen Maze2 waterblock

System Idle w/Fans at Full blast---This is really loud!
Case: 25C
CPU: 40C

System Idle w/Fans with rheostat at 50ohm
Case: 27C
CPU: 43C

Full Load w/Fans at Full Blas
Case: 25
CPU: 46C

Full Load w/Fans with rheostat
Case: 28C
CPU: 52C

I was a bit disappointed in the temperatures. I was hoping for temps under 40C, but I do have a feeling that the contact between the waterblock and CPU could be better. I am working on an alternate mounting. I suspect that an air cooled system would be ~52C and ~57C. My temps are ~22% less than air colled, I was hoping to see ~30% less. Please tell me what you think!

Well, i have a rio180 pump, a maze2 spiral, and an amd 1.4. my temps with rheo full are (were before i made a mess in my system) 41-42C (45-46 under load), and rheo'd 43-44C, and 47 under load.. i did ducting in my case so i guess things arent as cool cause of air flow blockage but it idles at 45-46C now

I am an extremist, so here is my pics, no noise almost at all :) picts , will be even quieter when I add the block to the vidcard!

Jim

PS: I had a inside system before, but couldn't stand the noise.

I think your temps are acceptable. How thick was the radiator? And how many passes of copper/aluminum? The radiator is the means your system disposes of the heat. The block is important and the pump somewhat, but the radiator is the item that will determine the final temp after it steady states.

And vfrjim, your a nut.............:) (my kind of nut)

I had a similar idea to what you did, but I thought I could make a multipass radiator out of copper pipe and then bury it 6' down and use the earth's coolness as a nice passive radiator.

No arguement here... that is a badass rig vfrjim!
Just one question... Is it possible that it might freeze in the winter?

How thick was the radiator?

I'd say about 1/2" thick. Only makes 4 passes. This was the ony radiator that I could find that was mountable inside my case (Enlight 7237).
