Water cooling Joystores.com ?

I am looking for an inexpensive water cooling system for quiet more than overclocking. Joystores.com has an inexpensive unit that looks like what I want. Anybody tried it yet? Any other recommendations for an Athlon XP 3200+ system?

Okay, another question already. If I went with a Mobile chip, could I use one of the new heat pipe heat sinks without a fan? Like the XP-120?

I haven't seen this one before. You'd best poke around for some reviews.

A few months back, Sanyo-Denki introduced a similar product -- a sealed unit ready to go containing water-block, hoses and radiator. Nothing to connect; already filled with water; you just pop it in -- install it, and it's ready to go. It had received an "imprimatur / nihil obstat" from Intel.

For that price, you could try it -- just make sure it doesn't leak before you power up.

Even if the Mobile CPU fits a standard ATX socket design -- like AMD 939, Intel 478 or Intel LGA775 -- I still think you need "a fan". The XP120 depends on air circulation to make it work. I don't know what the thermal Design Power of the CPU contemplated in your question is, and the XP120 fits a pile of different socket designs, but you haven't been specific enough. Just clearing up the loose ends in my remarks here should answer your questions, however. First thing- go to ThermalRight's web site and poke around there.

You can certainly use a Cooler Master Hyper6 without a fan. We do it often and it works quite well. It should, the thing is HUGE weights over a Kilo an is solid copper with 6 heat pipes. You can use it with one fan, two fans or NO fan. For general use it is fine without a fan, we install with one fan and a switch so you can turn it on for heavy game use if you like. Try it. We have used it on over 50 rigs without a problem. If you haven't seen one you will be amazed ~ it is the largest, and possibly best finished HS ever. Just be sure it will fit.
