Water & Coke - Interesting Read

skace

Well, I recieved this from my friend via email, so that sometimes kills the legitmacy of it. But I'm posting it here to see what you all think of it. If it all turns out to be true, perhaps more people will be drinking water soon 🙂. I already drink water and can vouch for some of the side affects when I switched from soda to water, but other than that I'm not sure of.

Here it is:

The water half is probably pretty close to the truth. The coke half is pretty clost to fantasy.

From a person with a 4 can a day habit, can say that Coke hasn't caused any health problems for me aside from a mild caffeine addiction, which is probably more due to my love of strong coffee. Besides, Coke is probably more than 80% water anyway. Do check out the Snopes link posted earlier, it debunks pretty much everything said about the Coke (except for the ham part, which depending on your tastes can be pretty good).

. To carry Coca-Cola syrup (the concentrate) the
commercial truck must use the Hazardous material
place cards reserved for Highly corrosive materials

My brother fills vending machines for a living.
He carries many gallons of coke syrup every day,the above statement is BS.

Hehe cool, now I can forward this link back to my friend.

I thought the 'cleaning the highway with coke' sounded a bit odd....

Oh really?

<< Besides, Coke is probably more than 80% water anyway. >>

Probably 95%+!

Most of those coke things are crap. I once put my tooth into a bottle of coke and left it 24 hours. Know how much of the tooth was gone? That's right - none.

Some of that water stuff is accruate, but much of it isn't. Most people do not get enough water, but if all of those facts were true the human race would have died out long ago from being a bunch of total panzies. From that link:

<< The only people who proffer the ridiculous statements that Coca-Cola will dissolve a steak, a tooth, or a nail in a matter of days are people who have never actually tried any of these things, because they just don't happen. (Anyone who conducts these experiments will find himself at the end of two days with a whole tooth, a whole nail, and one very soggy t-bone.)
>>

LOL that's exactly what I did!

Yeah, but much like Porsche and acceleration times, I found it best to err on the conservative side.

*waiting for EpsiIon to show up* My bf goes for the best (?) of both worlds. Little more than half glass of soda, little less than half glass of water, combined. *shrug*

Now that is disgusting. Nothing like ruining a glass of Coke or a glass of water... 😛

Well Skoorb, I think the Water facts are true, but I think they are decieving.

3,5,6,7 are all symptoms of dehydration, which just happens to be #1.

2 & 4 are similar in that they insinuate that someone not drinking enough water eats more to compensate (this seems to make sense to me).

I don't know about 8, but drinking more water would make you pee more which would clean out your bladder more often, making stagnant urine more unlikely.

So basically the facts talk about dehydration, which I wouldn't be suprised if a lot of people suffer from on a regular basis and food substitution (which occurs whenever you arn't eating what you should).

Well what do you expect Lars, I recieved something, read it, and questioned it. At least I didn't come here and say "AHA I TOLD YOU COKE WAS BAD FOR YOU". A great once in awhile I do recieve SOMETHING true from email, so I havn't given up on it yet.

wow, i'm glad to hear that that all coke stuff isn't true. i got this email a looong time ago and was serioulsy freaked out hahai'm a dork. anyways, i vowed to drink a glass of watever every day. that lasted less than a week. i just can't do it!! i hate water. blech.

water is good for you, that stuff just stretches the truth.. a bit too much.

coke is bad for you. because it has lotsa sugar. that's pretty much it. heh. i've tried to stop drinking soda all together.... i get enough sugar from other foods 😛

coke contributes to obesity and diabetes. cut out the soft drinks and there'd probably be a lot less of each.

Did your bf fall out of South Jersey or what? Sounds like he's trying to make Boost anyway possible...

For you uncouth, non jerseyans, from some magazine:

<< Walk into any house in Burlington, and a proper hostess--whether she's a Todd or a Sozio, a Hutton or a Janson--will ask what sounds like a baffling question: "Want a Boost?" This is good manners, not an off-color suggestion or an invitation to climb up on the roof. Folks in the river towns sip, slurp, and swallow nearly 2.5 million glasses of the flat cola-like drink that is Tak-A-Boost! every year, according to Charles Dugan, owner of the River-side-based beverage company that makes it.

Boost may be an acquired taste, but it's an essential part of the small-town ex-perience here. It is a daily necessity, and has attained the status of a minor folk cure in some circles. "You have to make it with shaved ice," Bubs tells me. "And you have to have a pretzel with it. That's how I drink my Boost. I have a quart bottle at home right now." In fact, every man at the firehouse reports that he has a bottle of Boost at home. Everyone knows how to mix the drink, sold as a concentrated syrup, to the right 4-to-1 proportions. And each person holds strong opinions about the proper size of the ice chunks needed to chill it, and whether or not a pretzel is a necessary or an optional accompaniment. At Ummm Ice Cream Parlor, a block east of the firehouse, Boost outsells Coke, Diet Coke, and 7-Up.
>>

Too bad their real site, takaboost.com has been MIA for some time...for awhile they would ship Boost concentrate anywhere in the world.

My favorite is the fact that the label reads: "Tak-A-Boost: Concentrated blend of fruit syrups." And the back reads "Contains no fruit juice." There are lemons and limes on the label 🙂
