This movie better be good. I'm all excited for it because other people are excited for it, but secretly I think it all looks kind of lame. I'll see it no matter what though, as it's the first R-rated comic book movie ever if I'm not mistaken.

Tim Burton's Batman?

I think that was PG 13.

Same here 🙁

Actually I think my wife is starting to come around to seeing this movie just because of it being made by the guy that made Dawn of the Dead and 300, both of which she likes a lot.

You know instead of worrying over a directors cut on a dvd how about they get the movie right when it is released in the theaters the first time and then see what they can add to make it even better.

Because the public doesn't look at it like that. Imagine if they released all the LotR movies in their extended format - people would be going nuts.

My wife wants to see this, and doesn't even know what it's really about.

The average movie going public has too short of an attention span and too small of a bladder. Plus a lot of the deeper themes from the book would probably be lost on a lot of people.

I thought I was going to explode in the middle of the theater when we went to see Return of the King (3 hours 21 mins not including trailers).

I have no real problem with long movies...but they need to bring back the intermissions that broke up old epic movies. I mean, how are you suppose to enjoy the end of the movie when you're about to suffer kidney failure?

I'd like to read it before seeing it, but that probably won't happen.

My philosophy & pop culture teacher gave us the assignment of seeing this over spring break.

I think that was PG 13.

I am almost positive it was rated R when it was originally released, but I think it was re-rated years later for subsequent home video releases. I could be wrong, though.

I couldn't find that. I did find this though:

Profanity
3 sh*ts, 6 craps, 2 S.O.B.'s, 2 hells, 1 d*ck, and 1 damn. The G.D. phrase is used.

I wonder who's dick it was, probably Kim Basinger's.

I'm pretty sure it was PG-13. I was 14 when it came out and neither my friends or myself would have had our parent's permission to go see a rated R movie and I know we didn't sneak in.

Tried tracking down a picture of the back of an original issue VHS box for the movie, could only find modern ones or UK ones, though.

As for other R rated comic book movies, 300, and the three Punisher movies.

R rating, plus being two hours and forty-three minutes in length. I am so glad they didn't dumb it down to PG-13. 😀

I knew about the rating but holy crap that seems long.

I'm not surprised at the length. That's alot of content to try to cram into a movie. And they're not even including the meta-comic or other background stuff.

I'll be interested to see what is cut out.

Ditching the meta-comic is a good idea, I'm about halfway through reading the book now. The meta-comic is interesting, but could easily be dispensed with in a move adaptation.

Sucky! A whole bunch of friends of mine, including my girlfriend (who lent me her copy of the graphic novel to read originally) and two of her chick friends are going to see it in IMAX as soon as we can get tickets. I'm loving the slightly underground vibe to marketing this movie thus far.

I skipped most of the meta-comic myself so I'd not consider it a big loss. I imagine that if they also cut out most of the details about the original Nite Owl, and maybe even the stuff about The Comedian being someone's father, it'd almost fit into a long movie format.

Oh man, so lucky. Girlfriend saw the trailer and said "that looks retarded". 🙁

None of my buddies ever go to movies in the theatre, so I guess I go alone or I wait.

It doesn't matter. Either way it's only a matter of time until the inevitable South Park:
Watchmen episode.😀

that's why you suck. I had assumed a flick like 300 would be terrible, what with all the man-love and circle-jerking on these pages preceding its premiere; but I was pleasantly surprised at how over-the-top it was. In many ways, it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it'd be.

Transformers, on the other hand....
