Watching Supersize Me opened my eyes even more...

I can't believe how crappy fast food is. I have known for a while, from watching my calorie intake, that fast food is really really bad for you. This movie shows just how bad it is. Gaining 15lbs in the first week? WTF! I know, I know... he ate it 3 times a day for a month...

Today I go out to lunch at Panera, and I get something other than the turkey sandwhich, the Bistro Steak Salad. That is probably good for you... right?

Wrong...

58g of Fat
12g Saturated Fat
10g Carbs
16g Protein

58g of FAT! WTF!

Only 630 Calories total, which is a lot better than most of the menu. I still can't believe that salad dressing, walnuts and steak had 58g of fat in it.

Amazing. Ok, I am done.

I eat out everyday for lunch (with co-workers). The only decent meal is Wendy's. (Large Chili and Grilled Chicken plain)

I really need to start packing my lunch.

lol that movie was pretty funny. but it also depends on the person. me for example i have hard time gaining weight in general, but right now I am trying to gain weight. the past 2 weeks, i ate fastfood everyday for lunch, while also taking protein shakes 2-3 times a day. and on top of that, i only gained about 1-2 lbs. which sucks for me as I am trying to bulk up 🙁

That's more fat than you would get in a half of a stick of butter. All on a salad. Yikes.

Hahaha, that reminds me of an episode of According to Jim where Andy makes a snack called "Shame Sticks" It's a stick of butter, dipped in sugar.

we used to eat sugar sandwiches, cover a piece of bread with either butter or peanut butter and then cover it with sugar and eat it, yummy! 😀

Go a month without eating any fast food or drinking any soda/pop. Then, after the month, have a meal at Wendy's/Burger King/McDeath. You'll feel like crap a short time later.

That said, I still eat some fast food every now and then.

As always: moderation is good. I'm pretty careful about what I eat, but I still drink beer and have a pizza now and then.

Remember, 630 calories for 1 meal is nothing. On an average 2000 calorie diet, that constitutes one meal, which is as it should be. The fat content is high in it, but remember, you probably won't even digest 2/3 of that fat, let alone metabolize it. Especially with the amount of fiber in the greens.

Thanks for that mental image. 😉

Watched the movie last week. It was good, but I think kind of dragged in some spots. First supersized meal took the guy like an hour to eat and then he threw it all up out the car window 😛

I'm out running around in the car a lot, and it seems convenient to eat fast food fairly often.. but we are going w/o any fast food for the month of November, just as an experiment 🙂

I eat out every day too.... I try to get a sub, or a wrap from pita pit, all vegetarian usually.. I am sure that has got to be OK for me! ( no dressings or anything )
