Shooting onto an offwhite wall looked not so great before, but in my new place with a white wall it looks almost as good as when I had a screen going.

What movie are you watching?

Did you calibrate it yet?

EDIT: Infocus 4805 for $699 AR if anyone is interested. (rebate is through infocus?)

Spiderman 2

I haven't calibrated it yet, didn't get the time to mess with it. That infocus is nice....it has DVI?!

ohh i been thinking of getting something for my basement. i have a "family room" type thing where i was planning on turning into a guys get away type place.

was thinking one of these (room is 10x14) a bar with beer tap and a some arcade games! or maybe a pool table instead of the TV.

how do the $700 ones look? i was told on another fourom to NOT get one under $1500 . i just want something where football and movies look good.

if that's the case, the infocus or the 1100mp is perfect

if you're not connecting a computer to it, the lower end models work just fine. And, if you're installing it in a basement, then it's even better. If the room gets too much day light, the screen quality will suffer....which is why normal TV's are better for daytime viewing. But if you're in a basement, then it doesn't matter, it will look good all day ;)

It has an "M1" input I think... but you can get a DVI to M1 adapter from infocus.

I love my 4805. I got it for $999 with a screen back in winter.

Projectors have been coming down in price a lot so you can get a nice one for pretty cheap now. If you don't need HD, the 4805 would be a great choice.

Have you seen a DLP in person yet to check if you see rainbows?

You have a light controlled room, right?

See My HT thread. I'm using that Infocus 4805...it looks amazing imho for the price. I'd have had to pay 2x as much for maybe %25 gain realistically.

I will be possibly upgrading my Toshiba 32" set (Cinema Series without onboard audio, bought several years ago, but still excellent).

How do the $700-1000 projectors (final price street, not MSRP) compare to CRTs?

Also thinking of dropping 2x+ more for a flat panel.

I am not sure of my final viewing room as I am looking now for a house purchase early 2006.

hmm then might look into them.

one said those cheaper ones don't do real HD picture. so was alittle worried about that.
I already have a 5.1 system i can use. just need the projector and screen.,
