Watching A.I. -- When should I turn it off?

I cried at the end of the movie. The advanced A.I. robots that looked like aliens was not neceddary though.

yea cliff notes, i guess people thought aliens created a blue fairy for real!! hahaha bah. if u go back and look at the ending again it all makes sense. the head honcho mecha gives beta david a choice and figures out there can be no other way. cant reason with the little brat. so they pull the vr trick on him

Personally I hated the ending. But you should watch the entire film and decide for yourself. Just remember that if you find those last 20 minutes to be anything less than a masterpiece you'll be flamed to hell and back by the Kubrick Klan for "not understanding" and being a "dumbass".

If it ended with him frozen in the ship with the blue fairy (I assume you finished watching the movie by now) I think it could've been an Oscar contender. But similar to The Green Mile, it adds unnecessary (IMO) plot twists after the main plot has already been resolved. Plus the CGI on the aliens looked bad.

I didn't care for it, the only thing I cared about during the entire movie was the bear...

My main problem with the film is that 70% of it looked like an Ikea storeroom. They should've made the furniture rather than purchased all the Ikea stuff.

P.S. Even having seen the film (and having several criticisms of it) I would recommend watching it all the way through. But that's me.

it was based on that story? i had read it before in college and saw similarities, but didn't know it was the basis.

and i didn't think the movie was too horrible. not that great, but i could sit through it again.

the point of the aliens was to kinda show us how the mother felt after she left him. One of the points of the movie was to show how we wouldn't be able to genuinly (how the heck do you spell this?) love the A.I. creature

iee u dolt, those weren't aliens, they were advanced mecha. what clued u in that they were aliens? only aliens defy physics right? haha right, the film was logical up that then, and continued to be so. u didn't catch the half dozen clues from the dialog that they weren't aliens? not to mention everything else that points to it yeesh. think about it, ending in the sea is totally pointless and cliche ending.

I just saw the Green Mile 2 days ago. What do you think was unnecessary twists in that?

Frankly I liked the movie. I wouldn't want to buy the DVD but I might see it again if it were on HBO or something. Anyway, I thought it was important that David actually in a sense died, then just stare at the blue fairy forever. Sure the advance robots were weird but they showed that artifical artifical life is actually life and that David isn't just a robot.
