it looks REALLY slick when dressed up. i don't wear it very often but when i do i think it looks really sharp. i actually wore it this morning to an interview with my suit, and it was noticeable as I was writing down some stuff on paper and my sleeve rose a little.

I see a lot of Movado watches at pawn shops for some reason.

Maybe it's cause people do have trouble telling the time with them.

I have no issues telling the time. I don't however know the time to the specific minute or anything but you can get the general idea of like 6:20 or 6:25, i can't say it's 6:23:12 though.

Maybe it's cause I'm an engineer and just see the angles and stuff easily heh.

I'm an engineer, as well, I and prefer a second hand. :p

Would prefer a leather strap as I feel it looks more conservative than all metal.

Citizen Eco-Drive

I'm somewhat set on this one, but would love opinions or other suggestions.

Get that Citizen. It's a fair price for decent quality that looks pretty decent.

Go for the Omega Speedmaster Professional or a Breitling Navitimer, real engineer's watches. There should be at least one Navitimer owner out there that actually knows how to use a circular slide rule.

My nice watch is an Omega Seamaster.

Edit: But yea, I like the Speedmaster Professional more. Might have to upgrade. :p

Skagen, hands down. Titanium band, black or gunmetal. Ultra-light, ultra-thin, ultra-durable.

Another vote for Skagen. I hate huge, gaudy men's watches. Skagen makes thin, simple watches that don't look huge on my girly wrists.

I have this as my everyday watch. It keeps time just fine and I don't worry if it gets beat up. It also looks good enough to go with just about anything.

Sure, it's a Timex and a watch connoisseur will see that, but most people are not watch connoisseurs. The simple fact is that the initial reaction that the majority of people have to my $100 Timex is, "Nice watch, that's a TAG, right?"

If you're in a job where it's critical that you be dressed to the nines all the time, then the Timex won't be the right choice, but for most of us, something on its level is fine.

As I move through the ranks at my law firm, it becomes less and less about my work, more and more about my appearance. I fear the day I have a Rolex on my wrist and a Brooks Brothers jacket on my back.

you gotta do what you gotta do.

I work at a small firm (15-20 attorneys) and the only thing the owner wears consistently is a coffee stain. I don't have any BB suits yet but I do have a fair number of non-iron BB shirts that are great.

Yeah, there's a lot of presentation inherent in law, but any sort of adversarial profession sort of necessitates that. If I needed to have a nice watch all the time, I would have my grandfather's Longines cleaned up and I'd wear that. Most of the modern watches don't have the sort of clean design that I prefer.

Not my grandfather's watch, but the face and size are similar enough for a general idea. Even the trimmer modern watches don't typically seem as "clean" to me.

Yea, I prefer the jumbled, yet engineered, look on the Skagen on my wrist (picture above). I do love old watches though.

A Speedmaster Pro is what I wear and I really like it. The legibility and utility of the watch is superb.

They have really been pushing the Speedmaster Pro lately with the impending anniversary. All their flagship stores here have big pictures of JFK with quotes and I have seen several billboards for the moonwatch up too. I even hear that they have been running a TV commercia back in the US.

I like the look of the Stowa as I wanted a white face, leather strap watch, too pricey for me though. Ended up going with the one in my OP.
