This time was interesting... The best part of the movie was when Sam said, 'This is the furthest I've ever been from home,' and you could see a car driving in the back ground! I seriously LOVE that movie. However there were some stupid wanna-be gansta's who sat next to me and my friend. They were laughing during the entire movie, and moching it. About 3/4 way throught the movie I muttered, "shut-the f*%$ up..." I gues one of the fellows took it to heart and then told his buddies to shut up. They were pretty good for the rest of the movie, but when it was over, they started Booing, and demanding their money back! WHAT IDIOTS! I guessed they wanted to see something with RedMan in it..... 5 bucks says they didn't even know it was a book.... By the way, I know what my purpose in life is... To build a house that matches the syle of Rivendel....

Yeah I saw it again this past friday. Amazing, it still didn't seem 3 hours long. Great movie. I think I'll go see it again this week too.

Isn't it much better the second time? I've seen it three times now - the first was good, but I had problems because it skipped parts of the book. The second time I watched it just as a movie and enjoyed it much more. The third time I went to a smaller theatre that was packed and they played the movie so loud it was hard to enjoy, but I still did.

Gotta love the Rivendell house - when you get it built, remember, PICS!! :)

When I get to that point, I'll be a hermit, to horde my house all to my self... forsaking technology! In the mean time, I'm gonna try to have some friends of mine who do CAD to draw up some specs....

I watched it the second time, and found it cool, caught how the queen rejecting the ring ended the chance of the elves staying there and they had to "diminish and pass into the west" It just plain rocks, and there is NO WAY that movie seems 3 hrs long

Who else got misty at the Death of Boromir scene? Though in the book it was even more impressive.... Great movie. It's the first movie I've EVER wanted to pay the full amount to see twice.

I have alot of friends that got teary eyed in that scene, but I think what almost got me choked up is when Sam kept walking in the water... Boromir's death was kinda typical Hollywood, Sam's walking into the river suprised me.

Yeah, Sam walking into the river after Frodo did tug at the heart strings. And "No" it doesn't seem 3hrs long at all.

Well, first of all...that totally sucks when you get degenerates like that in a theater. Pricks like that can ruin the show.
The scenes you guys mentioned are really good...here's a few other favs of mine:

Almost anything with Legolas was great. His quick bow work, the knives/shortswords he used. He was great.

when Pippin was complaining about not getting second breakfast. And elevenses, and lunch, and tea time, etc. (just like a hobbit hehe)

Gandalf's love of the Shire - and how brilliantly McKellen shows it.

When we first see the fires of the Balrog in the Dwarven halls - just chilling seeing the hall lit up that way.

Sauron when wielding the Ring and just knocking out swads of men in his path. Sauron was so badass...I love that scene.

There's a moment after Saruman has been communicating with Barad Dur via the palantir and we see him seated stiffly with a look of the most haunted horror and despair on his face, as if for a fleeting moment we see the tortured conscience of the once noble Maia. Brilliant work by Christopher Lee in that movie I thought.

Cave Troll. need i say more?!

i could go on and on but I'm gonna shut up now. :)

Have plans to see it again tomorrow (first time seeing it with the g/f) :)

<< this movie sucks

my friends and I all agreed this the pacing is too slow and tedious

Did you ever read the book. If anything, its faster than the book. JRR Tolkien was never famous for his amazingly thrilling fight scenes, just and amazingly thrilling plot. In the book, the Balrog scene is descriped in under 1000 words I believe, which is very few words for that long of a book. If you want action/adventure and crap, go see The One... If I stepped on anyone's toes, sorry. I'm a big fan of Jet Li, but c'mon, a multiverse with only 125 different Jet Li's?

Well we all agree you're an inbred focus-less foo! I know it's too bad that it's not as great a movie as rush hour 2 or jurassic park 3, but living up to such masterpieces is tough :(

I've seen LOTR three times and it's definately better the second time because you're not seeing it and comparing it to your expectations or basis on the books; you just enjoy it for the great fanstasy movie that it is. :)

I'll probably see it a couple more times and the hardest part is waiting for The Two Towers to be released. Movies like this are what theaters were made for. I hope they re-release this just before the release of the second movie so I can see it again without having to watch it on video.

Finally I was able to see the movie (just bad luck I guess, sold out for several weeks).
I was impressed!

<< my friends and I all agreed this the pacing is too slow and tedious >>

I disagree. IMHO they found a good balance between showing/not-showing the situations in the book and sometimes a little change that makes it even clearer for people who have not read the book.

Not sure what you think of it, but IMO Elijah Wood depicts Frodo quite good, a young 'man' who suddenly is burdened with the weight of the world .. er .. Middle-Earth that is.

How they depicted the battle with Sauron in which he was initially defeated, was even more impressive than I had imagined. And the confrontation between Gandalf and the Balrog... Now, that's good work!

Finally saw it and thought it was very cool! My brother said he thought it was the best movie he had ever seen.
I wish I hadn't read the books again over the summer cause a few surprises would have been nice but it did keep me from tearing up when Gandolph fell in the pit and Boromir dieing. The only flaws I felt were zooms on the ring every 5 minutes that was distracting and I found the time at Elronds a little boggy.
Even at 3 hrs there was so much going on I could see how if you didn't have some frame of reference you'd get a little lost and I found virtually every scene dramatic to distraction, its hard to sit glued that long totally immersed in it.
One of the best I've ever seen to be sure!!

So because they don't share ur view on the movie evidently they have no taste in movies. Granted they could have brought their point across better. Yes I liked the movie but it wasn't all that to me and it did seem to drag at certain points. But thats my opinion.

Yeah, and neither of those can stand up next to Money Train.

Seen it twice now.... can't even remember if I ever was twice i the same Movie within a week.
I took my brother and father in law to the show. Now I wasn't sure about my father in law and was hoping he would like it.... but he wasn't in the Movies in forever... but even he enjoyed the show and we talked quite a couple times about the film and he brought up the subject with other people. :)

The Cave-Troll is just great! Makes the Harry Potter Version look real silly! :) (And no... I did not see Harry in the theater)
