watched a saturn burn a mustang

OS

Lifer
I was coming back from watching the streetraces and I saw this little 4 door saturn shudder and peel out from a stoplight and then beating the 99+ mustang convertible next to it. When I saw that I was like WTF. Later I noticed the mustang only had one tail pipe (means V6).

Yeah yeah, street racing is dangerous and public danger #1, especially when done in empty biz districts in the dead of the night.

my gf has a 2002 mustang, v6, all stock...its pretty medicore, i dont even know why they would sell non-gt mustangs, they're just selling you a name if its not gt

They're meant for rental car fleets, especially the convertible version. You don't want a fast car in your fleet as it means higher insurance, higher chance of damage, etc.

man, why is that driver disgracing the tradition of the mustang by racing with a v6? dont they know that the v6 mustang is like the red-headed stepchild. 😀

And you've burned V6 Mustangs in your dad's 740. Not like Volvo's are known for speed either (at least not back in '88)

I like Saturns! 🙂

BTW, my girlfriend is in love with Mustangs. I thought this to be very cool, until one day, she asked what "GT" meant. I replied that it meant it had a V8. She said "well that's stupid! Who cares how fast it is? I just want it to look pretty!" I almost gagged. Such a disgrace to a car if you only care for the looks. A car is so much more than the body.... Oh well, as least she doesn't like Civics 🙂

I once went 95 miles in my dad's volvo. In one hour. The road wasn't flat, either. Hilly and bumpy more like.
My buddy riding next to me was just starting to doze off and I get that thing screaming down a straight section at 110, and hit a small dip. I caught air off that thing--I heard the engine rev even higher when I hit it. So my pal, who had been reclining in the seat flew about 6 inches off the seat. It was really funny. On the way back, he drove and in the same spot, exact same thing, but it happened to me. Quite startling.

Didn't say they were dirt slow, but they're not marketed as being speed demons. You don't think of "speed" associate with a Volvo the same way you associate it with Mustangs/Camaros.

Whats so special about that? I burned a couple of them in my time. If they are a 6, they're mine. If its the standard 8, the driver is usually like "WTF!?!?!" but I don't take the lead.

Maxima owns j00.

The v6 mustangs make it possible to have cheap GTs and Cobras. There have always been the cheap for the looks only mustangs.
