Maybe it's because I watched the Apprentice shows, but I never liked the guy. Then when he ran for election, it only went downhill. I wouldn't say he is good at manipulating anything, he is just loud and talks over people and because he's rich he's used to people being 'yes men'. He comes off as a bully who isn't used to not getting his way. He is in no way what this country needed, and it is pretty sad that people thought he was the solution. He may not have really expected to win the presidency, but it is very clear that once he got there, all he saw it as was a way to bolster his 'look at me I need approval' mentality. If you just take the way he talks and his twitter entries, I'm almost certain this is a man who's father was always telling him he wasn't doing good enough. The thing about the government though is that it sometimes is very difficult to tell what anyones true motive is because there is way too much smoke and mirrors. While I appreciate his supposed up front approach, his priorities really need to be rethought.
Additionally, I think because he never actually had to work for anything and be successful or be nice to anyone that didn't have anything to offer him, he never learned empathy or apathy. You can tell he has very little respect for people in general, and especially if they don't fit his idea of 'pleasing to the eye'.
People are saying he's trying to be a dictator, and I don't think that is it exactly. He's just trying to run the country like a business where 'he's the boss and what he says goes'. The problem is, the guy has been unsuccessful way more than he's ever been successful. He just had money to pad those failures. While on the surface the country may seem like a business, those checks and balances are there for a reason.
