2. When I was a kid, my mom's cousin lived in Japan. Their education system decided what direction a child's schooling took based on test scores/abilities.

You can't do that here because every kid is "special" and "equal". The liberal warped view of "equality", especially on education, is really starting to bite us in the ass.

Just goes to show you the Dems have no business experience. No one in their right mind is going to hire someone for 30K+ just to get a 5k tax credit, unless they were going to hire them anyway. CHeck that, I can see a whole bunch of people hiring multiple family members to game the system.

It is not just $5K for new jobs. It is also $5K for insourcing jobs. It is a $5K incentive per employee to fill new jobs with Americans instead of Indians or to move overseas jobs back to Americans.

1. My bro with his 10th grade education is clearing $250K as plumber. Granted he knows what he's doing.

If I were running an ISD, this is how I would have it set up.

K through 8th

A & B students - 25 students per classroom, 1 teacher per classroom - typically the A & B students don't need as much attention.
C Students - 14 per classroom, 2 teachers per classroom, with individual help, focus on getting the kids to the A & B student level.
D & F students - 6 per classroom, 2 teachers per classroom, focus on getting the kids to at least the C student level.

9th through 12th
A & B students - 30 students per classroom, 1 teacher per classroom
C Students - 20 per classroom, 2 teachers per classroom, focus on getting the kids to the A & B student level.
D & F students sent to trade schools. If they aren't making the grade in trade schools by the 11 grade equivelent, unenroll them from trade school.

It's just another band-aid proposal that sounds good and assuages the public without actually addressing our real problems. It's a band-aid on a symptom that doesn't even attempt to cure or even acknowledge the existence of the disease.

Did you see a problem with it when the Republicans did it? Both parties have been constantly raising the debt ceiling ever since Ronald Reagan started running record deficits.

Actually not when Reagan started... young and stupid back then you know. But look, yes the republicans do it, Dubya continued, and now obama has obliterated the bar set by his predecessors. I think you can see why most Americans had a problem with it in the past, but accepted it because it appeared manageable. Those days are over.

What whining. I own my own business and there's no way I'll hire someone I don't need for a paltry $5k. Even a one for one wouldn't cut it. No benefit if I can't use them. Give me the $5k in tax breaks and I would be more than willing to be required to spend it on expansion/equipment/advertising.

Oh so you want tax breaks so you can make more money, but not hire a soul. If you don't need a tax break to hire someone, then you don't need a tax break at all. I am so sick and tired of all the small business huha nonsense. Truth is most small business owners only want to line their own stinking pockets just like large business owners. But here you are, give me a tax break and for what exactly? You aren't contributing a damn thing to the health of our country's employment. So make what you can, shut the hell up, and put your hand in your pocket.

Maybe you should go back and read the thread from the start. A little education before you quote me.

P.S. Small businesses are ~52% of the economy. And no, I'm not looking for a hand out.
