Watch repair

I've gotten things like that done for free...but it all depends on where you go. I think you should be able to get that fixed for a five-spot as long as there's nothing else wrong with the band/watch

depends on the brand. I lost the main pin on my Tag and I have to buy an entire new band ($350)

What brand? If they sell it in Macy's, then you could probably get it done for free if you take it there.

Even if it is a Rolex, a decent jeweler should be able to perform the repair without charging TOO much, since it involves less than a minute of labor even if they are exercising extreme care. If it were me I'd just do it myself, and it would take me on the order of 10 seconds. Genuine Rolex springbars (the part that secures the bracelet to the watch) are pretty spendy, though.

If you have a small screwdriver set (small like the ones used to retighten screws on eyeglasses), you can pop back the spring assembly yourself. Most mall jewellers not named Sylar can do it for you. Might charge you $5.00-8.00 depending on how you approach them.
